Review: Great product and glad I gave it a shot! - I purchased the 16-4-8 product as I had a long neglected lawn - kids, job, life all got in the way and while I'd start off each spring with the best of intentions, by late-June I was just coasting by. This year I took an honest assessment of my lawn and the inherent deficiencies. Bare spots, moss and weeds were more common than the mix of grass that was growing due to occasional overseeding as I attempted to fix what couldn't be fixed. After a soil test I found that the pH was low and that the lawn needed most any nutrient I could apply, particularly Phosphorus. I started in spring with some competitors granulated fertilizer with weed killer and lime, but as June rolled around I was already going down the same path of neglect. So I decided that I'd stick with it if I could do something easier that would actually take into account the soil test results. While initially I looked for granular products to spread I selected the 16-4-8 due to the ease of application, the reviews, and the fact I didn't have to go to my local big box home store to stare at 30 different products. Because even if I pick a product that is half the cost of this I'll end up spending money on something else that I really don't need. So I might as well save some gas, some time, and overall aggravation and shop on desertcart. Reviews were positive, so I figured why not. I applied the product on a Sunday evening as my kids would be in school all week and not playing on the lawn. The results weren't immediate but despite the lingering drought in the northeast as well as the current heat wave the grass has greened up and it seems that the bare spots are starting the shrink. I'm pretty happy with the results, and will get other products from the company in the future. There is a definite improvement in the lawn; I'll be honest I still have a long way to go but my lawn was pretty sad to start with! That was nearly a month ago and I'm looking forward to seeing how well the grass improves as I stick with it (despite the pleadings of my wife and my physician, this is easier than going to the gym so I think the odds are better). If there is one aspect I would suggest for improvement it would be a better explanation of the non-NPK products, including why I should pick one (or any) over just a normal fertilizer application. Or even better, sell me a box every spring with every product I need for the next six months with a sheet telling me when to apply it! I'd buy that every spring! Thanks for making a great product that is easy to use and effective! ======================= Ok. So I didn't stick with it as well as I should have. After my early June application I started slacking off again. Kids, travel for work, the on-going drought. Around late November I took a look around, tossed down some lime and big box store winter fertilizer (granular) and some lime and reminded myself how much I liked this product. And prepared for a dismal winter in New England and thought about the summer to come. First off, another soil test. pH was low (5.5), and Nitrogen (N) and Phosphorus (P) was both deficient - pretty evident since I was already getting violets pushing through despite the lime last fall and the winter fertilizer. At least the Potash in the winter fertilizer came through. First - 45 pounds of calcitic lime on 3000 square feet of lawn. Second - where is that 16-4-8 Simple Lawn Solutions bottle? I remembered keeping it so I could order the gallon bottle if I liked it (I never did order it). Found it, in the garage. Right where I put it. Grabbed my phone and saw there was a coupon for a gallon - at 2.5 times the price of the 32oz it seems like the right option so I hit buy. Shows up. Waited three days for it to stop raining and just put it down tonight. Confirmed I was able to reuse the old bottle, meaning if you're using multiple bottles of this stuff order big. I figure I'll lay down at least two more applications of this stuff before I switch to the same company's winter stuff (depending on the results of a fall soil test). I'm not going to beat that price at my big box store. Third - ordered another Simple Lawn Solutions product that is 6-19-0 with root hume (Extreme Grass Growth Lawn Booster). I figure that will set me down the path for a non-deficient soil chemistry. I hope. ======= Update, December 10, 2019 I spent the entire spring, summer, and fall with Simple Lawn Solutions. Last fertilizer of the year was Veteran's Day Weekend where I applied the 3-18-18 product. My soil tests are getting better - pH is up to 6.0 and no deficiencies are noted. Here is the great part: while my lawn doesn't look as nice as I'd like it to, it certainly looks better. I'm figuring I have another two years before I can relax, but Simple Lawn Solutions is a fixture for the future. I really like the liquid format (particularly the gallon size), the extra products, and the support. Great stuff all around, and everyone remember to enjoy winter!!!!
Review: My rookie Fault was Corrected by this Product. - I lightly nuked my lawn while the soil was dry out of ignorance with Ortho Nutsedge Killer in reaction to Nutsedge and Kyllinga. I also had about 5 other weed species taking over about 40% of my lawn. The Killer worked OK but left some sedge and kyllinga healthy and also due to lack of water it really stressed the St Augustine. Rookie Move! It took me a week of studying to come up with a plan. First was to go buy sprinkler heads and hoses. I bought the house with broken irrigation about 10 months ago. So about 7 days after the Ortho, and thinking I needed to leave it alone so it could kill, I finally started drenching my 9000sq ft St Augustine lawn. Really late spring started all this the second week of may and its been hitting 95 and hasnt rained in 14 days. NOW. Onto this product. My research brought me here and the many positive reviews. The ease of dispensing, and the Re useable bottles and sprayers are a big plus. My high expectations made me buy three bottles for a single green up and recovery approach to my stressed lawn. Total application time took about 2 hours, but I made sure my soil was moistened deep this time the day before. I applied in the late afternoon right before sunset. Visible results were by end of next day! Which was three days ago and I've only followed with light waterings since. I also added at the same time through this products empty sprayer bottles another item. Its an all in one bio-stimulant liquid made with sea kelp with added Humic acid and Fulvic acids and included micro-nutrients. This total effort was made to restore and or reset the soil and it has 100% worked beautifully the lawn is now growing rapidly and turned a deep green. The leftover weeds are of course flourishing because of this but I will now plan a spot application of herbicide in a week or two. I want to give this product time to really take hold because im so impressed with what it has done for me in such a short period of time. I would be stupid to not order not only this product but now im eyeballing the Booster they sell. Even though it doesnt look like im going to need it just yet.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you also use on a garden**
A: If you apply monthly. the lawn begins strengthening. In time you will notice less stress to your lawn from the heat and lack of water during the hot days. This is mainly due to the Organic kelp found in this product. Look at label and keep away from Muriate of potash if its in your Label. That is basically Chlorine and that will dry out your soil and kill microbes that turn organic waste into food for Roots. Does the same for Gardens Too

**Q: How much area covered by one bottle?**
A: Hi there, The bottle will cover up to 3,200 square feet.

**Q: Would I have to apply seed if there wasn’t any grass?**
A: There are specialty formulated starter fertilizers when planting new grass seed. I've had great luck. Scott's had one, I personally use the off brand made by Ace hardware and can get it locally.
Also, consider using a product such as tenacity herbicide... it is a selective pre-emergent post emergent and will reduce the amount of crab grass and other similar weeds.

**Q: Can i use it with a tow behind sprayer? What would be the mix ratio?**
A: Not sure what the ratio would be but if you contact them I'm sure you'll get a prompt answer, customer service is great
