Great model had fun building it take your time. Some pieces are really small.

beware the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad instructions
To preface, the kit itself is excellent. To say it's more than the sum of it's parts is an understatement, and especially for the price, it's shocking how much detail is packed into this thing. But the instructions devolve into "place this bit in this general area and hope for the best". The illustrations are also completely disproportionate to the actual modelAnd of course, for the rigging, the hardest part of the kit, the instructions are "step 1: do the all of the rigging.".I pretty much ended up winging most of this build, because the instructions were more confusing than just looking at the pieces3.75/5 needs more protection in the box

Excellent for such an old kit.
With updated packaging, rigging line, and colored instructions, this is the same kit from 1959 I first built at age ten. Back then the molds were all new, but the kit has held up remarkably well for its age. Very little flash for a kit this old. Offered as level 4, I think that's a bit underrated. It has all the challenges of a level 5 kit, especially in the painting and assembly of lots OF VERY small piece, the warping of decks. etc. The new plastic used is fairly soft. It will require some skill to complete.By the way. There are always a number of people who are disappointed because plastic model kits require paint and glue. They invariably leave poor ratings. But this is only their own inexperience speaking. Look past all that and go ahead and enjoy a well-engineered kit, but so knowing what Revell's skill levels mean. This is not a first kit for anyone, no matter how long you've been building.

So far so good
All part and none broken

Poor quality
Poor quality, not like the older kits. Pieces don’t fit together properly and plastic is very flimsy.

Challenging but FUN
Kit is OK, having to reshape warped parts, Sails are vac u-formed pieces of stark white-very thin plastic, probably going with thin linen for sails unless these can be washed and textured. I STRONGLY advise test fitting everything before assembly or painting, and its easier to assemble the hull and decks one deck at a time. I know this is a level 5 kit, but sometimes people don't look at the levels as skill advisors.Still working on this kit, and it will work out fine because I do love a challenge.I'm using Testors enamels since I don't live close to a decent hobby shop. I would recommend Humbroll because of color correctness, and paint-ability. (saves on mixing your own as well. With all this, I'm still having fun with it, and would purchase it again, if I wanted to do more plastic.
