Amazing quality, beautiful record
The sound quality on this was amazing. Some vinyls just sound like garbage, but not this one. Favorite vinyl I’ve bought in years.

We first bought the CD right when it was released. It was just after getting our brand new jeep with some decent weather. We were just spending the day in the nice weather out in our front yard when amazon delivered the package.I had recently taken the doors and roof off of the jeep, and decided to use it as [really expensive] boombox. The first few tracks [to me] are amazing songs, and I was waiting for some kind of decline as the tracks played on, but one after the next - great music continued throughout the rest of the album. This was the first CD I had purchased in over 10 years, but I did it just to support The Lumineers, but when we started listening to it, the benefit was all ours. With a brand new Jeep, and many summer adventures on [and some off] the road, this album became an audio cue that reminds our kids of so many amazing memories doing things as a family.Later that year, my wife wanted [and got] a record player for her birthday - which is also christmas. A couple of months later, I thought that it would be cool to also have this album on vinyl - and ordered it.To my surprise - it is a "deluxe" edition - with a few more amazing songs! All we need now is for The Lumineers to release their next album, afterall, we have more adventures to go on... and could use another soundtrack.

I didn't like this record as much as the last
Sorry to say, I didn't like this record as much as the last. I still gave it four stars, because I don't believe in the concept of calling art 'bad' or 'good'. It all depends on the person. I also don't measure artists record to record. If they made something I really liked once, then they're worth supporting into the future. That said... For me personally, I felt like this record lacked the intimacy and diversity of the last record. One thing I can't understand, is why they chose to drown most of the vocals in heavy reverb. Just because that's so opposite of the first record. I think it was that very dry, minimalist sound, that gave them that intimacy, and separated them from what most other artists are doing nowadays... which is packing as much sound as possible into every second of the song. I think they were pretty shocked by the amount of success they received on the last record, and I'm sure that messed with their heads a little bit. That might have led to other people confusing them on what they should do on this record, and pulling them away from their roots. I'm hoping they get back on track with the next record, and get that intimate sound back.
