Jericho: Season 1

I like the story line, Very entertaining

First of all, I need to make it clear that I can't download the HD of any video. I don't have the download speed to do that. So I won't be talking about the technical aspects of the Amazon video experience. I'm nof sure why Amazon asked me to review "Jericho HD".I really do love "Jericho". There are parts of it that are too "cheesy" to believe and others parts that really make you think. First things first, I know that Skeet Ulrich was the star of "Jericho", but they used him too much for the story line. That is really my only problem with the series.If you like this type of story, "end of the world stuff", then you should like this story line. I was actually surprised at the complexity of the overall evil plot. I wonder if there is really a Jennings Rall out there? Oops, is that SPOILER?The characters are likeable, the story lines are believable, and the action is well paced and exciting. What else can I say? I tend t get really involved with a story like Jericho and these people are real to me.Jericho also has one of those perfect television moments. Alicia Coppola's dialog with the chicken in one of the later episodes of season 1 is truly one of the funniest things I have EVER seen on TV. Maybe it's because I have chickens and I get it, but it was perfectly done. Google it. If you don't laugh, then Jericho isn't for you. If you see the brilliance, then rent or buy the series. I have this series on Amazon Instant and on disc. I like it that much.Even though this is a review of Season 1, I will say that it is one of those really bad TV moments when the powers that be canceled season 2 after 7 episodes.I don't know what else to say except that if you normally like this type of story, then you will like "Jericho". If you don't normally find these shows amusing, then rent an episode or two. This is also a character driven story, and I think you'll find it interesting and entertaining.

I love the show but I'm only giving it four stars because the DVDs were engineered with a dirty trick that I hate. Lots of TV shows on DVD come with optional previews of other shows. When you put in disc one of this series, you are presented with two options, Previews and Main Menu. If you select previews, you are forced to watch all of the previews in their entirety before being allowed to go to the main menu. The only way out is to pop the disc out of your DVD player and start again. I think that's a dirty trick and I've never seen it before. Almost always, when watching previews you can either fast forward through them or press the menu button on your remote to jump out. This disk lets you do you neither. If you try to fast forward or press the menu button on your remote, you get a message saying it's an unauthorized action. I suspect they do this because they know that no one who buys Jericho is going to want to watch a preview for CSI Miami, so by golly they're just gonna force you to watch it. Dirty trick.

Video playback quality is really good.And finally a good show (In my Opinion) affordably priced.I wish Amazon would add an option to buy all seasons.You can buy or rent individual episodes or each season.It makes it near impossible to buy a show if it had more than 2 seasons.But Jericho is good affordable TV .I buy shows i like for our Road trips.They can be downloaded to a tablet and keeps the passengers occupied.No more "Are we there yet" every 10 minutes.

Definitely worth purchasing! AND catch the rest of the series if it ever comes back on the air! Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to catch this series on TV. But I purchased the DVD based on recommendations. I watched the entire series practically non-stop, and am now hooked. I don't ever recall seeing any adverts for this show, and I'm wondering why? Did I have a bad pre-conception of the show based on the adverts I did see? or was it a bad date and time-slot for me? I don't know, but I'm definitely going to try to watch "Jericho" once it comes back on, if not live, I'll definitely program it to record on my DVR!! - My 2 cents to the show: I'm not a fan of the romantic relationship in TV shows, but I know they must exist for those fans that are interested in that type of relationship development, but I didn't like the direction of a love affair (re)developing between Jake and Emily - it was a waste of time to me... the relationship was based in the past, and I feel has no future. I hope in this follow up season they move away from these character furthering their romantic relationship. I much prefer Heather - if they feel it's necessary for Jake to have a love interest - She's much more worthy of him! What? She too brainy for him, and not pretty enough?

One of the hidden Gems of CBS tv during the late 2000’s.

This series died to young and was rushed at the end. But it was good in some ways. What would we do after a bomb. I started watching after the fifth or sixth episode when it was on television and it is good to see it again.Something that you would find fault with is that the people in charge are slow to realize that they need to nationalize everything. That the only way to survive will be to get in touch with, Canada perhaps so that supplies can get to them. That they need to make plans for cooking. Everyone will be barbecuing everything because those ovens and microwaves no longer work, and then where do we get charcoal to grill from...Those questions should have been answered with a few small side scenes, but then the conspiracy drama overtook the show. That is why it doesn't have five stars. If the writers had thought about it more deeply, I would have given this more.

This production was made with a particular audience in mind I suggest and it isn't for the fans of series such as  Banshee - HBO Season 1 [DVD] [2013 ] or  The Spartacus Collection (Gods of the Arena, Blood and Sand, Vengeance) [DVD ] in my view.Jericho is very sanitized, with most of the violence that takes place happening off camera---this is not late night viewing but prime-time, family drama of a harrowing event that in the hands of a different director (like Danny Boyle for example) and in an alternative TV slot would be portrayed much more realistically.But, hey, I'm not reviewing the terribly nihilistic The Road [DVD ] or the Mad Max series of films; this is neatly produced, the actors are mainly pretty and clean and have several romances playing throughout, and the bad guys are not disgustingly bad.I can see why this 1st season generated so much interest that the fans campaigned for a 2nd season and some kind of resolution to the story.I did buy the short season 2 to see how things panned out---it interested me enough to do so. We all know that American TV can be just awful sometimes, but we also know that it can be the best in the world. There's the fantastic '24', 'NCIS', the re-make of 'Battlestar Galactica', etc, all brilliant and compulsive watching, now we have to add another title to the list 'Jericho'. This is a drama that many would have missed, it only lasted a season and a half, the plug was pulled by - yes you've guessed it- those TV executives who did'nt like the low viewer ratings it was getting, but it is a superb piece of TV. It tells the story of a small town in middle America and what happens to it and it's population when atomic bombs suddenly explode on major American cities without warning one dark and dramatic day. Is it terrorists? Is America suddenly at war with another country? Has something gone tragically wrong? With no communication to the outside world Jericho starts to break down, as do it's townsfolk, as everyone tries to survive. All the main characters have secrets, some more closer to what has happened than others know, but all will do anything to survive. It's very gripping stuff, and the acting from all the main characters is superb, there are twists and turns aplenty, and it is an emotional rollercoaster all the way. I found myself watching a few episodes at a time, simply because I wanted to know what happened next!! Trust me if you purchase this you won't be disappointed, except for the fact that the series was cut short.

Awesome show. It centres on one small town located roughly in the middle of the USA and what happens when war ( or so they think ) comes to their country and the major cities are nuked. The town comes together to try and stabalise as they adapt to their predicament but many challenges arise from many different angles and all is not what it seems. Only 2 seasons were made but in my opinion it is one of the best that have been made.

Jericho was one of the best TV shows in the last 10 years. Its plot was exciting. The acting was great. It had a loyal audience.Unfortunately is was produced for U.S. network television and suffered the recurring fate of well-conceived, exciting shows that require a little intelligence on the part of the audience - It was cancelled.In an unprecedented reverse, the network agreed to revive the show for a brief second series, to wind up the plot...a little.Despite it's short run, I still recommend this DVD, and the second series.

I loved this first series how everything came crashing down leaving the same outpost of Jericho. The characters are interesting and I look forward to further series to see how the plot plays out.
