The product features an easy to read display that has good "dark" numerals that don't "fade out" when viewed at an angle. The unit I have also reflects feature upgrades made by Clockwise Tools since some of the earlier reviews on this product were written. These include: (1) The unit now retains the previous measurement... even if the unit "auto powers off" during lengthy operation. (2) It now uses the thin "coin cell" LITHIUM batteries rather than the older style's thicker shorter storage life LR44 alkaline battery type. (3) The data connector is now a small USB type. (4) All of the display digits are "full size" (except for the .00005 value digit )", even when using it in "inch based" mode. The product appears to be very well constructed, and I am quite pleased with its accurate performance thus far...even MORE SO considering its very modest price compared to comparable products. What absolutely puts this Clockwise Tools item it in a league of its own however is the AWESOME Customer Service the seller provides. I was so impressed with this experience that I looked to see what other Clockwise Tools items are offered on desertcart, and should I need one... will purchase it with no hesitation whatsoever. The equipment came in a molded plastic carry case, with extra battery, additional mounting hardware, and instruction manual. This indicator and base have been great tools. The accuracy seems to match all my other measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, feed indicators, etc) within 0.001". Operates smoothly, doesn't hang, and reacts quick enough when doing a manual run out check. The battery has lasted over a year without replacement. One negative is that the indicator will auto turn off fairly quickly if there is no position change, which also resets zero. This hasn't been a problem for me, but if something is taking extra long on setup, then it may need accommodation. The base magnet is strong, no problems with it losing position, even when slightly bumped. The position arm copies other successful designs fairly well. The locking mechanism takes some elbow force to truly lock in tight, to where I can re-zero with a button push and doesn't change the indication. But once locked, it reliably holds position and doesn't creep or loosen. The short mounting stem over the spindle, sometimes causes interference with the locking knob on the arm, depending on how I am trying to orient and setup the measurement. Service: Within a year of purchase I lost the contact tip to the indicator, by my own fault.
