Little Mouse Gets Ready: Toon Books Level 1

Sweet book
My kids loved this book. It is a step by step story on how little mouse looks for the tag and puts it in the back to get dressed. We laughed a lot. I bought this one for a new niece baby shower gift. Sweet book!

Help kiddos learn to get ready on their own with a bit of a twist at the end.
It's time to go to the barn, but before Little Mouse can go he's got to get ready. First the underpants, then socks and pants, next are shoes, and last is the shirt. With button holes, zippers and velcro Little Mouse can only go so quickly. Just in the nick of time he's able to finish up and make his way to the barn with his Momma. Only there's a little catch...do mice wear clothes?Littlebug and Turkeybird are right, we've been reading this very cute comic nearly every for a couple weeks now and off & on for some time before that as well. It's an incredibly cute way to help little ones figure out just how to get all those clothes on and get them feeling great about their achievements. For Littlebug, it's suddenly spurred a new desire to do everything herself. Not only does she want to pick out the clothes she wears and dress herself, but nearly everything else she does she doesn't want help with. It's pretty funny most of the time and she almost always ends up with help from mom or dad, but it's neat to see her growth. And I absolutely love that it got started by reading a book.Little Mouse Gets Ready is perfect for young kiddos just learning how to do the basics. Not only will this spur a desire for more independence, but it will also help them strive to try harder. Little Mouse isn't always able to accomplish his tasks right away and the harder he tries the more likely he is to get it. It's something important for us all to learn, the famous quote, "If at first you don't succeed than try try again." We've struggled with helping her see that sometimes it's okay to ask for help because of this, but that's also part of growing up and I know she'll learn as she goes. A wonderful book, especially for those comic book fans, with a fantastic way to show little ones just how to get ready to go out!Originally reviewed & copyrighted on my site, There's A Book.

Little Mouse rocks both young and old readers!
I know that Jeff Smith is a cartoon guy but he can certainly right a darn good children's book too. We know where to find the Little Mouse story free to read on the Internet but I thought it was worth it to buy the physical book and have my grandson read it to me (easy reading for him now at six years old) and hopefully also read it to his 2 1/2-year-old sister. That is the plan! At 60 years old, I still enjoy this story; just wish I had the talent to write one as good. I "heartily" recommend this excellent children's bookβ very engaging and creative.

This book is perfect for my first grade students
This book is perfect for my first grade students. They absolutely love Little Mouse. They have learned so much about what makes a book fall into the fantasy category, so they especially loved the ending when Little Mouse realizes he doesn't need to wear clothes because mice don't wear clothes. If you're looking for a graphic novel that has text that is simple enough for 5-7 year olds, I would definitely recommend this one.

artwork was fine, font size reasonably big
The reading level was advertised, artwork was fine, font size reasonably big. It started well: my 5-year-old and I walked through it, him playing the (starring) role of Little Mouse, while I played his mother (type-casting). All was going well -- good story with the mouse struggling to get himself dressed, and getting that last button done -- a situation my son was empathizing with. And Then...the mother mouse arrives from off-stage and delivers a major put-down. It was totally unexpected, and changed the story from something sweet and earnest into something a bullying 8 year old might find funny. Call my son and me sensitive if you want, but who wants to read a story where a parent is rude and makes her son feel stupid? My son never wanted to read or look at the book again.

Beautiful and Witty!
This is a wonderful book! I saw it in a comic book store years ago and never forgot it. Now that my dearest friend has a baby daughter, and her "uncle" wants to spoil her, I remembered this book and found it on Amazon. The book's size and format are perfect for little hands and the illustrations are beautiful. I can never look through this book without smiling. It is quite a little treasure. Hope my "niece" thinks so, too!

Will be getting more TOON books for sure!
My 3 year old and I love this story/comic! So cute and just the right length. My son immediately wanted to play like he was the mouse and practice getting ready. How could a mom not love that!?

great purchase
I purchased this used book to replace a library book that got damaged. I was worried about the shape the used book would be in. I was pleased that it was in perfect condition and was suitable to replace the library's copy.

Great for early readers
My 5 year old loves these. She's reading at about a 1st grade level and these books are easy to read and look like her big sister's graphic novels. Great motivation.
