Great, Cheap Wide Angle Converter Lens When used with 55-72mm Step-Up Ring
I got this to use with a camera that has a 55mm filter adapter, since a 55mm converter would result in vignettes or dark zones at the fringes. This is a problem even with the brand name converters offered for many cameras.A lucky find for this poor guy! When used in conjunction with a 55-72mm step-up ring, I can use the converter and shoot wide angle with no vignetting whatever. There is a modest amount of fish-eye distortion, but less curvature than I've seen on some other converters. Anyway, one does not shoot ultra wide angle for the sake of depicting precise lines.Any additional glass or converter added to a camera wil soften the image somewhat. Although this converter is very cheap, the results are better than one might fear. Ultra wide angle is not suitable for pixel peeping area. In my case, it is only for occasional landscape shot or city visits. It would make no sense to pay more for a prestige brand (likely available at 55mm only) and (very likely) find vignetting. For what I paid, versus what I got, I have no buyer remorse whatever. It's a good deal.
