Crossbow shooters be warned, despite manufacturer's claims this target is NOT safe for crossbows!
Hips advertises this target as applicable for all compound bows and crossbows, but my experience shows this target is absolutely NOT safe or functional with even moderate speed crossbows. I purchased the Hips X2 Grizzly Big Game target for checking point of impact with broadheads on both a compound bow and a crossbow. The crossbow is an entry level, mid speed PSE Fang, firing a 400 grain arrow at around 340 FPS. While fast compared to most compund bows, this is fairly middle of the road for crossbows. This is the largest and most expensive Hips X2 Archery Target, and the Hip's website clearly states the X2 Grizzly is good for use with crossbows. I set this up last night on my range at 25 yards. I fired one crossbow arrow with a field point, and it went completely through the target, extending 2" out the back side. 18" of penetration on a 16" thick target. It was exremely difficult to remove this arrrow. I decided to try one more arrow with a broadhead, since this was the desired use of the target. Same range, same crossbow, same arrow just now a Swhacker 100 grain practice head. It blew completely through the target, extending around 6" out the back! 22" of penetration on a 16" thick target. I had to unscrew the broadhead and pound out the embedded arrow.Clearly, this target is not safe or functional with even a budget crossbow. If a shooter used one of the 400 FPS high end bows it would be even worse.I am returning this target to Amazon, as it does not perform as advertised and is a safety hazard. This target is well made, with excellent fit and finish. If was shooting a slower compound bow this target would most likely perform as intended, but not for a crossbow.

Absolutely worst customer service
Absolutely worst customer service!! They told me if it keeps my arrow from landing in my neighbors yard it worked. I blew through this target consistently with a 65 lb bow at 50 yards. Hips is TRUELY a terrible company's.Pics attached. It's been shot so few times it still looks new, imagine how poorly it would work if you actually could use it

does what they say it should do. Cover your arrows with a light silicon spray - much easier to pull them out.

I bought the HIPS X2 Grizzly for use with my compound bows (I shoot a number of different bows with arrow speeds ranging from 307fps to 338fps). I've put approximately 5,000 arrows into it so far and it's barely even been broken in. I expect to shoot another 5,000 - 10,000 arrows into it before having to consider ordering a replacement. The target material stops arrow penetration relatively quickly and only after numerous shots in the exact same area is additional penetration noticed. Fortunately, HIPS targets have six different shootable sides with a variety of target configurations so you're going to have to do a lot of repetitive shooting at one side to wear it out. They are also the lightest targets I've ever held - by far! The HIPS targets are definitely a good investment for shooters who like to shoot a lot of arrows but don't want to break their backs hauling the target back and forth to set it up and put it away.

Great tough target!
Great Tough target! I have been using it for several years with no noticeable wear. I coat my arrows with bar soap to make removal easier.
