From the Manufacturer The Handy Paint Pail was created in 2001 in classic Do-It-Yourself style. Mark Bergman was doing some painting around his house using the standard "coffee can" paint container. When Mark's hand began to tire, he designed a strap out of duct tape and the Handy Paint Pail was born. The built in bracket, magnetic brush holder, roller grid and tool and rag holder makes this multi-use pail the perfect answer for any project on or off a ladder. In 2008, Bercom made some changes and improvements to their existing products and expanded their product line, beginning with the color of the pails. Bercom believed that if they urge their customers to continuously change colors, why shouldn't they? Not to mention the new color was extremely eye catching! So, after five years of producing gray pails, Bercom changed the color to red. Following that trend, Bercom changed the color of the Pro Series Paint Pail, made it lighter in weight, lower in price, and re-named it the Handy Roller Pail. In addition, requests from customers wanting to attach the Roller Pail to a ladder led to the creation of the Handy Ladder Hook. Not only does this item secure the Handy Roller Pail or a standard paint can to any ladder, this mini-bungee can be used for many other applications. The most exciting and successful new product from Bercom in 2008, however, was the Handy Paint Cup. This new entry-level paint cup hit the ground in a dead sprint. The handle is sturdy, adjustable and incredibly comfortable to hold, and the magnet to hold the brush is a game-changer. With this pail, I managed to paint for an entire afternoon and *not* get pain all over the metal part of the brush. That was a first for me and made brush clean-up so much easier. Somewhere, I read that you should only add enough paint to the bucket to reach about 1/3 of the way up the paintbrush bristles. That turned out to be excellent advice. Even if you to happen to drop your brush in the pail (which I didn’t do once because the strong magnet works so well), it won’t get covered with paint the way it invariably does if you work directly from a quart or gallon can. For the ridiculously low price (I managed to snag it when desertcart had it on sale for $6.30, but even at the regular price of about $10, it’s a bargain), this sturdy bucket is a long-term investment that will take a lot of the horror and mess out of painting. I like to keep my tools and equipment as clean as possible. Although the bucket looks like it would be easy to clean (at least, after using latex/acrylic paint), I think the pail liners, which are less than $1 each, are likewise a bargain and a must-have item. I realize the liners probably cost about 5 cents to manufacture, but even if you don’t reuse them (as some people claim they do), $1 is a very low price to avoid the messy horror of cleaning out a paint pail or, even worse, trying to keep the original paint can in super-clean condition for storage. **Q: Are there handy liners in a smaller size? i bought the handy 1 pint (1500-cc) paint cup without the black rim. the liners i bought are way too big.**
A: Yes AMAZON pairs the Quart size liner with a pint size pail, and suckers all of us into buying them together..  BE CAREFULL... I fell for it so you don't have to to.

**Q: Will these liners fit the older quart size paint pail with the black rim?**
A: It fit my cans from Sherwin Williams, but not on the primer cans, or the concrete paint. So, buy one, serif it fits is my real answer.
I kinda thought paint can tops were universal, but NO!

**Q: Whats the difference between the "new version" and the original?**
A: wider mouth

**Q: Can these liners be used with oil based stain?**
A: I’m sure they can.  I haven’t used them with an oil based stain, but I used mine with an oil based primer without any problems

I will add my voice to the chorus of people who have already raved about how wonderful this product is. The handle is sturdy, adjustable and incredibly comfortable to hold, and the magnet to hold the brush is a game-changer. With this pail, I managed to paint for an entire afternoon and *not* get pain all over the metal part of the brush. That was a first for me and made brush clean-up so much easier. Somewhere, I read that you should only add enough paint to the bucket to reach about 1/3 of the way up the paintbrush bristles. That turned out to be excellent advice. Even if you to happen to drop your brush in the pail (which I didn’t do once because the strong magnet works so well), it won’t get covered with paint the way it invariably does if you work directly from a quart or gallon can. These are a really great product if you have the Handy Paint Pail. I've used them in my business for many years. Saves on clean up and the Handy Paint Pail is genius with the very ergonomic handle and the magnet which holds the brush in the pail.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ MUST HAVE for home owner with lots of painting to do

This is an awesome little hand held paint pail. The disposable liners are readily available at Home Depot locally so that is a plus. I've used it with and without the liner and it washes up nicely if using common latex type paints. The magnet inside holds the brush so it isn't sitting in a full pail of paint, and is handy to always have the brush stay on the one side of the pail. I never used one of these types of pails till someone recommended it, and I like it. I'm doing a ton of painting in my home(Trim/Walls/Ceilings/Etc) and I'm using this lots. Update: I can't even tell you how many times I've used this thing and it still works great. It has a little paint build up on it from the times when I didn't use a liner, but it is still very functional and I'm guessing I won't need to buy another one for a very long time. Still highly recommended. Another Update: Yup, still using this product and it still works great! I have some touch up from the past paint jobs in the last few years, and am renovating and one project has a ton of trim so I will be using this. Still highly recommended. ANOTHER UPDATE (11-2014) Just finished renovating a 1/2 bath where I did custom Wainscoting and trim throughout the room. Tons of walls, wood, and trim to paint and this bucket was used. I probably did 10 different painting sessions and rewashed the disposable liner as well. I've probably used the same disposable liner for the last few projects and it still is 90% clean, so I definitely recommend getting a pack of those and once you are done washing out your brush, give the liner a scrub and reuse it as long as it doesn't get too caked up. For the paint pail, the magnet inside is awesome and it will hold your brush out of the paint, or just in the paint however you want it. Very helpful when you need to set things down for a minute. I also recommend Purdy paint brushes, they are a bit more expensive but can't be beat and if you wash them good they last a long time and hold a great edge. I use this paint pail to rinse the brushes in (Only Latex Paint) by filling it and pushing the brush against the bottom and sides until I don't see any more paint coming out. A necessity when I paint!
