Excellent radio for the price (but a bit touchy)
I absolutely didn't understand the complexity of settings on this radio and thought it was broken. The volume would cut out and then go silent. This later I found was due to my having the squelch set too high. . .But it took me a while to figure that particular event out. My strong suggestions is to watch a few good videos on this particular radio and it's many features and how they work. Once I understood all the settings I found the radio a pure joy and quite entertaining. . .it has a beautiful expression all it's own (with bit of a learning curve). I have had many shortwave receivers over the years and this is one of the best and most entertaining for the price. And its quite a handsome little item to have too. A little advice, you really need to order a good antenna for this radio when stationary and listening at home . . . Probably a MLA-30 Loop Antenna (very cheap around 40.00$. . .mine is on the way. Cool radio so far...love it!

Not a bad little radio!
Bought the higher priced V5.2. I want a completely portable all-mode HF receiver that I can carry when locating power line and other interference. Cute, seemingly well-made radio. All functions seem to work, except the battery level indicator. A search online turned up a few good sources of info on that, and I added a 50k pot (shown in photo) to fix that. The band assignment for 75M is kinda strange; it goes from 3900 to 5300 kc. You can't turn the tuning knob below 3900. If you click the 80M band button, you can't tune above 3900. I believe the limitations are defined in the code, which can be modified if you are smart enough. One interesting feature is that (with this firmware version at least) you can rotate the display 90 degrees. See photo. No trouble with a loose BNC connection that others have reported. The two shortcomings I noticed were: it takes two clicks on the tuning dial for each change the frequency [Haven't yet figured that one out.] , and the signals are off by about 50 Hz, only really noticeable on SSB.The battery inside is labelled 4000mAh, though you can't trust the Chinese on battery capacity claims. It's held in place with double stick foam tape, so it can be replaced if needed. This is not a Software Defined Radio. It's a traditional electronic radio, limited to 30.000 MHz (plus FM broadcast). And, for anything beyond local FM or AM stations you need an EXTERNAL ANTENNA fed with coax. But like a meal when you're hungry, it hits the spot. I like it. We'll see how long it works.

Great small AM/FM/SW/Ham radio
I really like this radio. I like that it works with a rechargeable battery. One less wire you need to plug in. Only when you’re recharging. Plus it’s portable and can be taken anywhere. It’s small for your backpack. Great on your desk at work or home office. My only complaint is the on/off switch is on the back of the radio. As you can see in my picture. It fits perfectly in the spot where my small desk drawer goes. I drilled a few holes in the desk to run the antenna wire and the charging cord. I use a good ghost antenna mounted outside for better reception. So it’s a pain having to pull it out to turn it off and on., But other than that it’s a great little radio

Very neat little package
Ok. I only just started playing around with the ats 25 max and I’ve already found some cool stuff. Let me first say that I have own a lot of classic radios from the 50s to modern day so I know a bit about radios. I’m not going to go into the technical aspect of this radio because it really doesn’t compare to a good multi band radio but it has it’s place which makes it very cool. This radio is perfect size to throw in a bag and take anywhere. I found the speaker output fine for personal listening and controls are easy to figure out without any manual. I am impressed with the reception so far with just the stock antenna. I found a couple of settings that I thought were very nice. You can switch the display from horizontal to vertical and it has a setting called “retro” which makes the display look like the old 40s and 50s shortwave radio consoles ( very cool for an old time user like me). I am personally glad I picked this little gem up. If you love radios and want something to kick around for fun grab it. You won’t be sorry.
