What does it look like directly to human eyes?** A: I had to pull my skein out to take a look under better lighting. I tried a couple different kinds of light, and it looks different depending. I always thought it was 'Redcoat' red, but you're right, it does have a whisper of rust to it. I would describe it as 'madder' red. Madder is an old-timey dye for wool broadcloth. I hope that helps.
