These handcrafted 2-inch cylinder rock-climbing holds are a great tool for training extreme grip strength. Work vertical-grip pull-ups, one in each hand, or the 8-inch length allows for a two handed grip on one Piston. Gripping these bad boys takes brute hand strength and forearm strength and will make you a Beast in short order. If you're not ready for extreme training just yet, work your way up slowly and safely like the pros. Begin by strapping these to a dumbell or kettlebell to train this extreme grip strength with less weight, and increase your strength until you are able to do pullups and eventually dynamic exercises. Great for: Cross fit training Gymnastics strength training Grappling hand training Power Training Rock climbing grip strength Obstacle race or American Ninja Warrior training. These types of grips are often seen on American Ninja Warrior and other extreme obstacle courses. Compatible with Slackers Ninja Line. Weather-resistant textured sealant makes them great for limited use outdoors too! Materials: Grips: The grips are made of solid wood, textured with a light weather resistant texture that will provide friction while not hurting your hands. Ok I guess
They are made of wood, so I support the reviews that say you could make them much cheaper. Also, they don't come with straps of any sort like most similar products do so you can't attach them to pull up bars or monkey bars unless you go get some nylon straps or something. Not really textured...it's just the texture of the wood. Wish I would have bought a different product.

Not worth the price to me.
I was looking for a Christmas present for my 21 year old son when I saw these and thought they would be perfect. I didn't realize that they were made of wood and just spray painted. My husband could have made them for much cheaper than the $30 price. Based on the amount of black that had rubbed off on the inside of the bag they came in, I would guess that the black color wouldn't last long under normal wear and use.The bolt opening was much smaller than one of the pictures showed. I included a picture of the piston bolts next to some common items so that you could see how big they were yourself. (Marble, ping pong ball, dime, quarter and a Lifesaver.) The opening on the eye-bolt was about the size of a dime. The description states that it has "LIGHTLY TEXTURED GRIP". When I look closely at the piston the "grip" seems to be no more than the roughness of the wood dowel and maybe a little speckling from the spray paint. They do come in a cream colored cloth bag with draw strings at the top of the bag for closing. The bag is almost the same size as an 8x11" piece of paper. These would work just fine if you didn't have the tools to build your own. I plan on returning mine so my husband doesn't choke at the price I paid for something he could make for a fraction of the cost.

Well made as described. Work well. I'd add some abrasives for grip. Overall good though.

Got these for my husband, and a year later they are still holding out well!
We build a ninja training rig in the back yard since we live in a "ninjaless" area. My husband has competed on the show three seasons now ("Ninja Moose" on YouTube). Even though these are wood they have held up great outdoors in the FL rain/shine. Novice users may find these to be particularly challenging as they do not come with much grip spray on them and they are larger than the average piston hold (2" vs 1/1.25"). Sure people could make these at home but you know what - you can make many things from home, it doesn't means it's worth spending the time trying to do so! for the price it's 100% worth not dealing with the hassle! These grips make a great addition to any ninja or budding ninja looking to elevate their grip game.
