It’s got to be reenforced
The cam lock is very weak and doesn’t hold up to the pressure required to break the cam adjuster bolt loose. It’s either weld it or drill it and add a strong bolt. The stock bolts will break. Didn’t have the cam bolt as some pictures suggest. Otherwise, it’s pretty functional and easy to use.

Worked as advertised on BPY engine
Great kit work as advertised on 06 VW FSI BPY engine. Even has pin to hold in camshaft chain tensioner.

Broke on first use.
Tiny bolt that holds on the legs bent and snapped. Just can’t put the needed torque on the tool to get that cam adjuster bolt off. Replaced bolt and repeated same result. If you have a welder might be able to weld the legs on otherwise don’t waste your money and by the expensive version of this tool that is a single piece not bolted together.

Cheap but useful
Be smart with it. The bolts are cheap so buy good ones before you use it. Hate to have them bust off while you’re using it. But just like any cheap tool it isn’t perfect. Cams still moved 1/2 inch so be sure you’re TDC and have your marks. But good for cheap tool.

Well it works it works and it works. Also comes with pin to hold tensioner and if I haven’t mentioned it works. So worth it saves you so much time and effort

Cam lock needs welded
This is an excellent tool for the DIY guy. I had my buddy weld mine before I even used it. Just a couple of tacks did the trick. I read the reviews and followed the advice. You really can't beat it for the money. These tools are super expensive and if you are a guy like me trying to flip a car you don't want to have $400 of your profit eaten buying tools that you may never use again.
