Q: Do any of you have any suggestions of a sling you've found with no "give" to it? with no bone in my upper arm, i need maximum support. thanks!!! :-)

This has a lot of support I tore my bicep and this worked great!!

Hello Kate,No, the thumb loop does not have to be used. It is there for added comfort, so you can have something to support your hand to prevent it from getting fatigued while hanging in the sling, but you do not have to use the thumb loop if you don't want.Thank YouCustom SLR Team

Q: Is this product latex free?

I am GUESSING that it is. The strap is "cushy neoprene," it has a Velcro adjuster, and to me the actual sling feels like a lightweight polyester or poly-cotton blend. The care instructions are to wash with cold water and mild detergent and lay flat to dry. If there is any latex in it, I don't know where they put it. (Note: I still have the original packaging and it doesn't say anything about latex.) Good luck.

Q: Will this sling support a cast which goes from the armpit to the fingers?

I don't think it is sturdy enough for that application. The material stretches a fair amount, so it's comfortable for post shoulder surgery but the weight of a cast is probably too much.
