Raw Apothecary Liquid African Black Soap (16 Ounces)

This 3 star review will probably get lost/overlooked between the 5 and 1 star reviews, but oh well.I did really like this soap, but it loses stars for 2 reasons. 1, it's price, though I see it has dropped a few bucks since I bought it, probably in part due to how many different brands offer this same type of product now. And 2, all the claims for all the amazing things it does for your skin, none of which turned out to be true in my case.What I love about this soap. It's good soap. It lathers up surprisingly well for being a thin liquid. Now, I use it with a natural loofah, and it requires using a fair amount more to get that lather than if I use it on my hands. And it requires more than the half dollar size amount per the instructions. The loofah just sucks it right up, and it's hard to get enough lather on there to wash everywhere without having to apply more. Partially because any water from the showerhead washes it right out, probably partially because I'm 6' 200+ lbs. There's a lot to wash.The smell of the soap probably bothers some folks, as we are used to yummy smelling soap these days. For me, I've decided I want my products to serve their purpose. I want a soap that works really well as a soap, gets me clean, and hopefully is good for my skin. I leave the smell-good job to deodorant and a spritz of cologne. So I actually like the neutral, clean smelling scent. Sure, it's got a hint of burnt ash to it, because it's got burnt leaves in it. Doesn't bother me.So, all-in-all, good soap. A bit spendy, but the bottle has lasted me 6 months, so not a bad deal. I'm now going to try other brands because I continue to see all these claims about how it clears up every single skin issue, both in product descriptions and in customer reviews. I didn't get that result, so time to shop around and see if any black soap can live up to the claims. If another one does, that'll be my soap. If not, I may well come back to this one.

This is the best liquid African black soap I’ve found on Amazon in terms of price, effectiveness, and ingredients. I was looking for a nice liquid black soap that has no PUFAs in it. It’s hard finding non-toxic soaps to use that don’t throw off your hormones or are bad for your skin. Finally found my new holy grail soap. I use it for everything. Washing my body, hair, dishes, cleaning around the house. It’s very watery, so be careful when pouring it out. That doesn’t take away from its effectiveness however.

Very unusual, comes out of bottle like black water, but start rubbing around in your hand and it lathers up nicely. Gives you a good, clean shower, without heavy perfumes or scents. Works well on my son's acne, dried up his skin (oily complexion) nicely, with daily use. I definitely recommend it as a natural alternative to all of the artificial chemical shower "gels" that are out there today, some still using unsafe chemicals that have been banned, but the products are still on store shelves.

This soap is great. A little goes a long way. I can use it to bathe my little ones, facial cleanser as well as many other uses. It is gentle and made from organic ingredients. I opted for liquid Black soap for the convenience of no mess as w/the bar version. It did not disappoint. I would give if 5 stars if I already saw some results of it clearing up my skin but, it's too early to evaluate that.

My husband absolutely loves this body wash. He says it makes his skin so smooth and soft. I can't say I'm keen on the smell, or lack of it and it is very thin. But he's a fan and I'll keep buying it for him.

My skin is in love! Got rid of flaky skin in one use. Very happy with purchase. Great as a shampoo if you wear your hair natural. Difficult to straighten but when you dont care if your hair is not perfect its great. My very fine hair gets thicker and curlier with use. You need to get used to the coated feeling as you can feel moisture locked into your skin and or hair. I absolutely love it!

Excellent Soap!! Truly great for my sensitive skin it caused no irritations as most soaps do. I also threw some on my 4B Hair and it loved it. I would recommend as a clarifying shampoo, and it works really when you follow the shampoo with an ACV rinse.The only issue is that the product does stain tiles a bit, but this can be remedied with regular bathroom cleaning.

I love black soap, but I prefer to use the liquid as opposed to the bar. It gets me squeaky clean, so I suggest following up with a moisturizer.
