This is a pack of 5 saddles. Colors are chosen from what we have on hand to get them done quickly. What is a chicken saddle: Chicken saddles are made to protect your hen's back from a roosters nails and spurs. When a rooster over mates a hen this can lead to serious and sometimes life threatening damage. We make these saddles to allow feather growth without having to separate your hen from the flock or having to remove or trim anything on your rooster. These can also be used during a molt in case there is excessive pecking. Our saddles are made by hand using very strong materials. A soft cotton material on top in many designs. The bottom of the saddle is made from a quilted cotton material. I choose to add a small amount of quilt batting between the material for a little extra padding and protection. This also makes them great to use when it gets colder. It acts almost as a jacket to keep them a little warmer. Best part of this is the saddle is reversible. Has your hen got their saddle dirty dust bathing. No problem, these saddles are laundry safe. The size is adequate for most average-sized laying hens. These are the perfect addition to any emergency kit. Each item in my shop is individually made by hand- each item is unique, just like the chicken who will wear it! Slight deviations are to be expected. Please, note that color may vary slightly depending on the computer screen.

Well made; Protects well.
After the hens had worn these for a while I machine laundered and dried these on cotton settings. (The aprons, not the hens.) They laundered beautifully. (Again, the aprons. My hens don't do the laundrey. Unfortunately.) I have Red Star and Easter Egger hens. Even though I thought that at first they would be too small (the approns, not the hens), they fit the hens well. In addition, the aprons help keep the hens warm in cold weather while their feathers grow in. After a few minutes, they didn't even notice. (The hens, not the aprons. I otoh notice them all the time because they are so colorful and cute. The hens and the aprons.) Highly recommend.

Definitely a must if you have a rooster
If you own a rooster the hen saddles are a must have. My rooster is awesome and has a really docile personality but due to the nature of how chickens mate the hens were getting some feather loss on their backside. I order 2 from a different company that were about $11 each and decided to try these when I wanted to purchase additional saddles. They work just as well as the more expensive saddles with the exception these are a slight bit trickier to get on due to the way the elastic is attached at the top of the saddle. The other brand top elastic slides through a pocket on the top which makes it easier to get on. These the elastic is attached at the top and side and doesn't slide so you need to stretch it more trying to get it over the wing. Some of the elastics seemed to be a slight bit twisted when they were sewn on but nothing that effected the way they work and it does not seem to irritate the hens at all. Overall a well made product and I'm very happy with them.

Hen loves!
We have used these on three of my hens and there doesn't seem to be an issue with them at all. They've held up through rain, snow, and dust baths quite well! They are certainly long enough for Rhode Island Reds, Delawares, and Sapphire Gem hens.I did have one issue where if not pulled all the way to the joint of the wing, the elastic can slide down over some wing feathers and break them off.I did feel like the elastic could have been a bit stretchier to slide over one of the hens wing a bit better, but with two people, a little adjusting was needed and it worked just fine.

Great product, low cost!
These are beautifully made and durable. Our rooster has been very harsh on our girls and a few are still missing feathers. We have wyandottes and these cover completely and are just a smidge bigger than their back lengthwise. I don’t mind though because it provides extra protection until their feathers grow back in. I highly recommend these!

These are so cute and fit my girls well! I think these chicken saddles fit a lot better than another popular brand sold on Amazon. I received them much sooner than the expected arrival date. I would definitely recommend these for Rhode Island Reds and Red Stars (aka sex links).

Do Their Job Very Well!
They do their job very well. I had quite a few hens that were "favorites" of my roosters and had lost a lot of their feathers. These do a great job of protecting that area and allowing the feathers to grow back so they don't look like the tramps of the barnyard. :-)

Highly recommend!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Fit my hens perfectly! Great quality and wonderful patterns! This size is perfect for regular size and large Brahma hens. I will be buying another set for my bantam hens! These are nice and thick, protecting my girls greatly!

Love them!
I liked being surprised by the colors and patterns. Went through each to pick out the ones to match my hens personalities and put them on accordingly. They are so pretty and well made. My hens weren't too sure about them at first, but they seem to get over it quickly. They just look so cute! I plan on ordering more as soon as I can.
