My first DAC / headphone amplifier
I got this unit over a month ago, wanting to get the most out of my reference grade Sennheiser headphones that i use mostly for gaming, but also to listen to music. Did some research on which unit would be best for me with a budget of $200 and ended up settling on this unit, and boy am I glad i chose this one. First off my headphones have way more juice to them and can now get MUCH louder. But also the sound is so much higher quality than it was before. The DAC makes each different noise that your hearing stand out distinctly much more than before. In games it makes me notice sounds i never noticed before because each sound is more isolated and just stands out more. That's the best i can explain it. I guess its giving you a higher range of frequencies which in turn lets you hear a wider range of noises that all blended in and wasn't distinct enough to pick out before using this DAC. I listened to some music without the DAC afterwards as a comparison and immediately the difference was obvious, this thing enhances whatever your listening to so much. If you are looking for a DAC for gaming / music I absolutely recommend this unit. You will not be disappointed, that much I know.

Topping DX3 pro plus is - crystal clear with good highs and mids and very pleasing bass...
This DAC/ microphone amp is crystal clear- sound stage is open and free- treble and mids are balanced and plenty. The lows are pleasing and enjoyable.- noise free. In short, it is very musical and puts the listener in the sweet spot every time. The price is a steal for the harmonics and musicality.I have tried the Eversolo-Z8 dac and at 3.5 times the price of the DX-3 ,the sound is lacking in mids and highs - sound is confined -feels caged - not open .The unit is solidly constructed and has preset options for sound quality- as this is a desk top dac its size is just right for a PC desk... The unit is easy to use as is the remote - nothing complicated. It get 5 stars only because I cant give it 4.5.

Good sound, complicated interface.
Compared A/B with Denon DA-300USB and yet again Denon was not dethroned. Both have HP amp, but DX3pro+ when output switched on remote between line out and phones it may blast your headphones with high gain and that is not pleasant at all neither for you nor for headphones. The USB input volume is very low on DX3pro+, correct level on Denon. Just watch out when you are listening on low gain headphones at moderate level - an accidental switch to high gain would really hurt. Should not put gain change button on remote, better have a physical switch on the unit to avoid potential health hazard.

Buy it now.
Been ordering and returning multiple headphones because none were anywhere near as good as my astro a40's. i tried bose qc, sony mx4's, and Sennheiser RS 195 RF. All dogshi. Decided to try a dedicated headphone amp instead of my smsl ad18 with a40 mixamp. HUUUUUGE improvement. MASSiVE. Thankyou reddit and youtube, dx30 is amazing. iuse it as a preamp connected to my amp, and the headphone port is amazing. Loads of power.

Powerful clean performance
I've used this product daily for a few months now and its worked great for my needs. I compared this to a jds labs atom stack that I had been previously using as my daily driver and compared to that the topping unit just felt better built in every way. Its a metal case versus a plastic one on the atom and its size is just so much more portable it fits better on my desk and just looks better. The metal knob is very responsive and has a very satisfying click after every increment letting you chose the exact volume you want to have. Since this is a combo dac amp the volume is matched perfectly to the dac with a digital control so there is absolutely no issues with left and right channel imbalance which practicaly all stacks have that's a win for the topping. Another difference from the atom is the inputs which this unit has the atom only has a USB input and a rca output in the dac and the amp has a rca input rca output as well as a 3.5mm aux out this topping dx3 pro+ has so much more than that it has a usb input, a optical/ toslink input, a Bluetooth input and a coax digital input, for an output it has rca out in the back and the headphone 3.5mm in the front these many inputs mean you can have one unit for everything you need i have my pc connected to the USB and my ps4 connected to the optical outputting to a pair of jbl 306 powered monitors through a rca to ts cable and that workes perfectly. The unit has a few diffeent settings to output sound controlled from the remote if you press the headphone icon on your remote the unit will display 0-2 on the screen and will only output sound through the 3.5mm headphone port on the front if you hit the line out button on the remote you'll get 0-1 on the screen and this will only output sound through the rca out in the back so line out is only powered speakers and the headphone button is only headphones which means you can always leave your headphones plugged in and only have sound exactly where you want it you can also it the round button in the center of yoir volume control which displays 0-3 on the unit and then outputs sound to both your speakers and headphones simultaneously but i don't really know why you'd want to do this each option also has a memory module that remembers the volume you set each mode to which has never failed me. The sound on this unit is great you can go read Amir's review of this unit and see that it measures perfectly with no distortion plenty of power and no audible concerns and from what I hear thats exactly how it is I have plenty of volume for my hd 600 headphones and I'm always on low gain I've never had to go to high gain even with iems I never hear any hissing or noise overall this unit has worked great and I don't see needing anything else for the foreseeable future. At this price I really don't think you can find better performance and features anywhere else you also have to consider that you save room on your desk and don't have to buy rca cables to connect your separate dac and amp together you just have a single unit with one power cord if you do buy this pick up a pair of aaa batteries because topping doesn't give you any but besides that I'm sure you'll enjoy this unit.

Not worth the effort
Every connectivity option they provide on the input and output side requires me to go find cables. The user manual reflects a primary consumer market in China. Not worth the effort - easier to just return and get something that makes life easier and more enjoyable.

Amazing DAC/headphone amp for this price point! I bought two!
High quality, compact DAC/headphone amp that beautifully powers my HIFIMAN Edition XS and Sennheiser 6XX headphones.I bought my first Topping DX3 Pro+ for my living room (silver) and loved it so much I bought a second for my bedroom (black). The remote controller is nice but “clicky” volume wheel is even nicer. I connected WiiM Minis to both units via optical cables to add equalizers and enable lossless 16-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC streaming from my Plex server.I do not pretend to be an audiophile, but the Topping DX3 Pro+ is the coolest tech I’ve bought in a long time.
