fine tool value, works superbly
Cuts super-fine clean holes in paper, leather, and bookboard. Beautiful tool; quality craftsmanship; I'm hoping this will outlast me. Easy to align and use, even if going through thick materials and one's hands are 6 decades old. I'm using an old eyeglasses case to hold it and the bits, perfect fit.

Very Satisfied
I waited more than a year to order this item because it's so expensive and I wasn't sure I'd use it enough to justify the expense. I'm an artist who makes handmade books and who does papercutting. I'm extremely satisfied with the Talas punch. I've been using it to make perfectly round perforations in papercuts and I'm delighted with how easy it is to use. The punch cuts a variety of hole sizes and the tips are all very sharp. I've easily punched through more than 8 layers of drawing paper and the punch gave me a clean hole through all of the layers. The main reason I purchased this punch was to do Japanese Stab Bindings on my handmade books. I'm sure it will perform marvelously for this purpose. This punch was ordered to replace a cheap poorly designed screw punch I purchased a couple of years ago to do stab bindings. Due to the construction of that punch, the paper that was cut when the holes were pierced jammed inside the tip of that punch the very first time I used it, and nothing could get it out of the tip. I haven't had any problems with paper jamming any of the tips on the Talas screw punch. Prior to owning the cheap screw punch, I owned a "Silent Setter", a tool designed for cutting holes and setting grommets. That device could punch holes in only two sizes and required hammering to punch holes. It rarely perforated fully through multiple layers of paper. The Talas punch is definitely superior to any of the hole punches I've owned previously. It's easy to precisely position the punch exactly where you want to punch the hole. The small tips included with this punch are much smaller than any squeeze type punches on the market, and the Talas punch doesn't leave impressions around the holes like the squeeze type punches do. It's a plus that the Talas tips can be reordered separately should they need to be replaced. All in all, a good product.

It is easy to use, is sturdy and money is fair for the product
I tried a knockoff of this screw punch and sent it back within hours of receiving it.I bought the Talas and knew within minutes it was the perfect screw drill!!!Yes, it is more $$$ than the others, but well worth it. Take good care and it will last a lifetime.

Expensive
If you want one that works, you have to get this one... got a cheap knock off first that was absolute garbage, fell apart in my hand upon first use. You will be happy with this one, once you overcome the sticker shock.

Holy cow. So great!
This punch is just fantastic. It seemed kinda pricey, so I was a little hesitant. But I'm so glad I went for it. It comes with a bunch of tips, which are a really good buy! It's super easy to change tips, too. And it works like your grandma's favorite charm. It's worth every penny!

Worth every penny
At first I was hesitant to buy this screw punch because of how much pricier it was compared to others like it on Amazon. I had actually purchased a cheaper one, but wasn't too happy with how it jammed and took several go's before it went through thicker materials like chipboard. I decided to buy a nicer quality one to see if there was any difference in quality and I'm really glad I did! This thing cut through several stacks of paper like a hot knife through butter with no grinding or jamming. It took an extra try to get through 50pt chipboard but that was still infinitely easier than its cheaper counterpart.I'm definitely keeping this screw punch and returning the other one!

Exact and Easy to Use
Love, love, love this tool. Why didn’t I find this months ago?!?! I make quite a few small books and this tool is a life saver for punching holes rather than having to use an awl. With this tool the holes are exact, and the edges of the hole are very clean. Advice: Spend money on the real deal.
