The story that kicked off Apocalypse's popularity
Though Apocalypse had been introduced earlier in the run, this is really where he debuts as the classic X-Men villain that remains popular today. Louise Simonson is best when writing superhero action, and this provides for a truly climactic, city-wide battle that feels on par with the first Avengers movie. Angel's dark resurrection is done well, with his transformation making him into a threat for the first time. There's good soap opera drama too, with Cyclops regretting leaving his wife and son and Jean dealing with coming back to life. Beast struggles with losing his intelligence and Iceman deals with losing control of his powers. As with any of these collections you have to expect some 80s corniness - you can never get through these collections without reading a Power Pack issue - but overall this is one of the best ones from the era and much more cohesive than the first volume from this very loose crossover.

An excellent compilation of X-Factor issues from the Fall of the Mutants story line. It's nice for me to go back and relive these stories that I loved as a kid without re reading and possibly damaging my original collection.

X-Men: Fall of the Mutants vol 2
You can never go wrong with The Fall of the Mutants. X-Factor take down Apocalypse and save New York? The Hulk vs X-Factor? The Fantastic Four? Daredevil? Yeah... it's all good.

Much better than the first volume
This story is really a must-have for any fan of Warren Worthington as a character, or Apocalypse as a villain. Apocalypse had fought X-Factor a few times before this, but this was his first major push, and actually turned Angel into an interesting character for the first time in his existence. I didn't really like what they did with Beast in this storyline though. They put him through a bunch of random changes during the X-Factor days before settling on his blue-furred look between the formation of X-Factor and sometime before this team rejoined the X-Men, and it got a little old. You'll also get a few crossovers here, including X-Factor fighting the Hulk during the lead-up to the Apocalypse story, and tie-ins with Captain America, Daredevil and Power Pack as they help deal with the fallout from Apocalypse. There's also a team-up with the Fantastic Four and Black Panther tacked on at the end that doesn't really add much to the main story. You will also see a bunch of young mutants hanging around who would later go on to join the New Mutants and then the original X-Force, for whatever that's worth to you.The art looked good in spots, but overall was not all that impressive.I'd recommend this book to any fan of the original X-Men or Apocalypse.

Not great.
I didn't even finish it. I read the X-Factor part (because that is what I am here for), the Hulk part & pretty much ignored the rest.I would only recommend this title for nostalgic collection purposes.
