It doesn't hold any weight. I couldn't put a plant on it. I can't return it because when I put a plant on it, it bend the metal bar. I'm giving it 2 stars because it's a clever idea but ... I can't use it. Anybody want it?

I almost did not buy the shelf because of the reviews. It was easy to install. I had to adjust the screws so that the metal brace was fully extended.I opened the window lock and centered the shelf before inserting the brace. I fits almost snug between my windows. I added to suction cup braces just for a bit of added support. It is sturdy enough for what I wanted. I am using it for a medium and a small flower pot. Though I would not use it for really heavy.

It does work after a bit of adjusting that can be hard to figure out because the directions just say "adjust". It works as hoped as I now have another shelf for my window plants. The reason for only 3 stars is because the bottom of this shelf is ugly. The picture shows the nice top of the shelf but you will not see that just the ugly bottom or if standing the side. So this is a very functional well built item but for the price they could have made the underside of the shelf a bit nicer. Now this is just my opinion so I will post a picture so you can decide for your self.

It doesnt stay put in the windows of my very old building. The locking mechanism on my window is the style thats needed, but for this to work the metal bar adjustment would need to be adjusted in the opposite direction than what its able to do. Perhaps these types of locks are different nowadays but definitely doesnt work in this case. I assume that this may work better in new windows that have a more uniform seal and a lock that is more flush with the window.

This is a great idea but the execution didn't work. The metal that slipped into the window frame wasn't long enough to go below the locking mechanism to keep it secure. Instead it was just long enough to get in the lock's way. Totally unusable.

After reading some of the reviews, I decided to test the weight by putting some soup cans on the shelf after installing. My husband and I found the shelf to be sturdy and stable. We did have to adjust the piece that goes into the back of the window but its meant to be adjusted to fit your window and does so quite easily. We are very happy with our Windoshelf and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others. We grow indoor plants, mainly leaf lettuce/basil/parsley throughout the winter and the shelf is perfect for this! Thank you!
