Great product, but missing oil
Great product so far. Heavy duty. Seems to seal very well compared to my 112.Only complaint I have is the oil. The initial instructions were to fill the device with oil, rub a few cycles to warm up the oil (and to most likely flush any metal fine materials) and then empty, then refill. They only provided a small amount of oil needed to fill the machine, but not to refill it.Thankfully I purchased a quart of extra oil when I purchased the machine so that I could use right away, but was not something I expected to have to use right away.I don't fault the instructions. They just should have included the appropriate quantity of oil to follow the clear instructions.

Hand-free vacuum power!
Yes, it's expensive. Yes, it's bulky. I figure it'll take about three years before the device pays for itself in lower-cost vacuum bags (the seal-a-meal type rolls are about $1 a square foot). It is a joy to seal food in this device. The food goes in the bag, the bag goes in the chamber and you close the lid and walk away.Heck, I save about $5 a week in cheese that doesn't go bad because I've not use it in time. I've got a freezer full of Gulf-caught grouper, snapper and grunt that is safe from freezer burn because I *know* the bags are sealed properly.

Works great for large amount of product sealing
Heavy, but worked great for splitting hamburger, and wild game packaging. Was done quickly and easily

Edit: After 2yrs, the good & the bad....
Edit 8/17/2022 - added video of bagging a 10lb brisket in a 16"x18" bag.Edit 5/14/2022 - I've been using it a lot lately, and it always does a nice job. I'm way over-due for an oil change, but no matter. I've taken to placing the cutting-board spacers on top of the bags in the machine in order to get a better vacuum. It prevents the bags from puffing up, forcing more of the air out. I regret not buying a bigger model. This VP215 does 99% of what I want, but once in a while the chamber is just too small- e.g. packer briskets, pork butts, hams, etc. I added 2 stars this time because my unit has been doing lots of good work.Edit: 8/31/2021 - My unit is still going strong. It gets light to medium use. I've had no malfunctions or breakdowns. I discovered you can seal extra-wide bags by folding the mouth of the bag to fit. The seal-bar has enough heat to seal through the fold, but the outside of the bag doesn't stick to itself so the sealed bag unfolds after. Useful trick for large chunks of meat that max-out the chamber volume.Original Review:Stars removed for the cheap-garbage vacuum pump, and the annoying controls. Details below.1. The lid latch design is stupid, and a hazard. They should have used a toggle latch. The lid always wants to spring open and the latch doesn't hold the lid down all the way. So, if you accidentally bump the latch the heavy lid swings open unexpectedly. Its especially concerning when moving or carrying the appliance. Its not a deal breaker, but definitely disappointing considering the price.2. The control interface is fiddly, and cycling through the options every time I want to make a change is tiresome. Separate buttons for each of the three settings (vac, seal, cool down) would have made adjustments so much easier. Fine if you're doing twenty of the same thing, but if you're doing a bunch of different things that require frequent changes, < groan>.3. An hour meter on the back would have been a nice way to keep track of oil changes.4. From the outside it looks and feels like a commercial grade appliance. However, the vacuum pump is the cheapest piece of garbage they could get to do the job. At least it should be easily replaceable aftermarket even if VacMaster goes out of business.5. Definitely change out the first oil fill after about 10min of run-time to flush the pump of dirt. My first (second, and third) oil came out dark gray with a lot of fine magnetic particulate settling out of the oil. (Apparently other reviewers have experienced this too.) Typical of cheap Chinese made equipment is poor machine work finishing, like they didn't bother to clean the machined parts before assembling. (If you're especially mechanically inclined, pull the whole pump right away for tear-down and cleaning. It will probably last a lot longer.)I'll update if I notice anything else as I put some hours on the machine.
