I love this stuff
This is the best tartar sauce. Does Amazon even sell it anymore. I can't find it anywhere. If they sell it, definitely buy it. It will be the last tartar sauce you will ever want to use.

Excellent tartar sauce, no real "bite" as claimed, but that's easy to remedy
PROS:Excellent flavor and aroma!Shipped in a sturdy carton, well packed to protect the jars in transit. This is important because if it is in a shipping carton with other items, it could be easily damaged without the good protection.CONS:The product description says, "Bite back" (meaning it has a little spicy heat). The ingredients include jalapeno pepper, horseradish, and cayenne pepper. But the quantities must be on the molecular level, but there is no perceptible bite (heat) to it. However, that is so easy to remedy. Add a pinch of ground cayenne to achieve the "bite" you like; stir well. By the next day, the heat will be there, and without altering the flavor much at all. The amount of cayenne will depend on the HU rating of it. If yours has no rating, it is probably in the mid-to-low thousands of HU. Good quality organic ground cayenne is readily available from Frontier, Starwest Botanicals, and others, with HU ratings ranging from 18,000 to 90,000 (last time I looked).SUMMARY:If you enjoy tartar sauce, "The Ojai Cook" tartar sauce will not disappoint you. It's flavor and aroma are excellent.

Healthy and biteless
I assume the ingredients are healthy. That is the only good thing about it though. Nearly all the taste is oil. I would not like it if it had a big "bite" in the sense of hot or something like that, but I taste very little of anything. It does not have a noticeable amount of pickle relish or mustard or onions or anything like that. Tartar Sauce is supposed to have pickle relish but this has little or none that I can taste or see.

Great product....but....
This is a great product, but save yourself the frustration and buy it at Whole Foods. Whoever packs this product seems to think glass bounces. It isn't easy to get UPS to take back a grease soaked box held together with a full roll of packing tape. Buy this sauce, but don't buy it from Amazon.

The flavor and texture is Worth the extra pennies
I covet this mayo and have to mail-order it Bc it isn't available in my small TX town. I use this mostly with gluten free chicken nuggets and pretend I'm eating fish sticks from my youth. It works! Ojai mayo in any flavor is worth spending the extra pennies.

Tastey
This was mayonnaise based and had a kick to it . It goes wonderfully with bland fish such as halibut , cod, or tilapia . It really takes these choices to a new level of enjoyment .

I LOVE this stuff!
I originally found this in local grocery stores. But it became more and more difficult to find until I could no longer buy it on a whim! Amazon.com to the rescue. I grew up in Milwaukee, WI so Fish Fries are a requirement. While you can find them (Fish Fries) in Minnesota, they're not as prevalent. So... with this, some great fish, plus Malt Vinegar (don't forget the "chips" and rye bread!) I can make a great meal! Spicy, thick, delicious!
