Great cup of coffee, very sturdy brewer.
I am very happy with the functionality and appearance of this product. This glass is not flimsy, the filter is sturdy, and it makes a great pot of cold brew. On my first attempt I medium-coarse ground 4 ounces of coffee in my burr grinder. That was a bit too much coffee, since I barely fit in the filter. I would suggest about 3.7 ounces, no higher than the water level for the grounds. I add 1/2 the water while tamping down the grinds, then add the other 1/2, as the directions suggest. I left the finished product on the counter at room temp for 24 hours, then refrigerated. I added about 1/3 water to the cup of coffee and heated it in the microwave. The result was a very smooth, not bitter cup of coffee. Much less bitter than pour over. I drink about 15 oz. per day, so I got a four day supply of finished product. I am very happy with the result.

I do not suggest purchasing this item if you actually want to use it
Although I received a replacement already for this item, as it was broken when it arrived, it was given as a gift. I was just informed by the recipient that the handle had broken off within days of their use. They had picked up the product by the handled and the whole piece shattered to the ground along with its contents (cucumber infused water). Being courteous the recipient did not want me to feel bad that it broke so they waited to tell me. Regardless, I do not suggest purchasing this item if you actually want to use it. Anyways, I would like to request for a refund for this product as it is obviously not durable enough for normal use.

a good proportion of coffee to water is 1 to 4 ...
for me, a good proportion of coffee to water is 1 to 4 to get the strong flavor I want. with this jar, even the coffee section full, four time that volume of water wont even touch the coffee. that's why it was not suitable for me and I use it just to filter the coffee I have already brewed in another container

Good size. Easy to use.
UPDATE March 2018. I've had this cold brew pitcher for about a year. I have not been able to find a combination of the appropriate brewing time, amount, grind, and blend of coffee that will produce a brew that has much body or is strong enough to stand up to ice. I can't determine if that is operator error or a design issue.I am not going to lower the rating since I can't determine if the weak/bland brew is a product issue. As we move into warmer weather, I'll again play around with amounts of water/time/amount, grind, and blend of coffee to see what happens.Original reviewI'm happy with this purchase so far.I'm pleased with how well the filter works. It brews clean. There is very little residue left at the bottom of the carafe. The directions are easy to follow, but I think they could be more detailed to help people who are new to cold brewing. I have used the cold brew method in the past, but the technique was far messier ten or so years ago. This is a delight compared to that. While the carafe is a 48 ounce carafe, the final content, when you remove the filter/grounds, is about 40 ounces if you use 48 ounces of water.I'm still experimenting to get the right combination of time, blend, amount of coffee, and appropriate grind. Just like hot brewed coffee, you have to be willing to take the time to experiment until you get the combination that is right for you. So far I have not been able to get the brew quite strong enough for my taste. After the first couple of tries, I decided to add the coffee and water in four parts rather than the two parts indicated in the instructions that came with the brewer. I am stirring lightly after each addition to be sure the water is reaching all the coffee. I also add the water very slowly to be sure all the coffee is saturated. I am letting it brew for 24 hours. The opening to the carafe is too small for a hand so you need a bottle brush to clean it. The filter is relatively easy to empty and clean.

Pretty but a learning curve.
This is sleek design and I will continue to use it with a few reservations. It requires more water to reach the grounds since the filter doesn't go very far down the pitcher and if you fill all the filter up to get stronger coffee then the top grounds are wasted since the water cannot reach the top. Before when I just made it in a glass jar I could make it the right strength but I had to deal with filtering out the grounds. Bottom line, it takes some adjusting to. The container is slim and well played with the silver top, I could serve it straight from the container to visitors. I am going to keep trying and find a coffee grinder with a coarser grind to work on the strength since I have heard that helps.

Time saving, good flavor, slick design & sturdy.
Iced coffee is a daily routine in our home. We're early risers, the morning solitude combined with an EASY way to brew our ice coffee has always been a 2 day process. Brew day before, put in fridge, drunk next morning. This coffee / tea brewer eliminates time consuming steps, the appliance has a much better seal than what we we've been using. Pour spout doesn't drip, handle is easy for gripping and brewing method did not compromise taste. We're very pleased with the appliance.

Tasty cold coffee.
Makes great cold coffee. Easy to make and easy to clean. The process takes 10 hours but that is why we bought two. We no longer drink hot coffee thanks to this device.

Fragile
After <2mos use, the pitcher shattered into several pieces while swirling water around the bottom to clean it. Only used cold water, and never put in the dishwasher. Disappointed at the fragility. Worked great... until it didn't.
