Will two cats that are 12 and 11 pounds fit in one together?

No. I can not get 1 cat in it. It is small. Also not strong enough to hold the weight. I fear collapse. She weighs 11 lbs. Better for kittens or 1 smaller cat.

Would this fit a miniature schnauzer

Hi, the size of this Airline Approved Pet Carrier is 18.5"L x 11.8"W x 11.8”H，Please reference your miniature schnauzer's length and height in selecting a carrier size. As long as your dog’s sitting height is less than or approximately equal to the bag’s height, it is suitable for your dog.Have a nice day!

Will this collapse on your pet, or does it stay completely open and away from them?

Hi, the bag is made of sturdy Oxford cloth. When you assemble it, the four sides will provide enough support for the bag and will not collapse easily. Your pet can move freely inside.

I am returning a carrier that has a noxious chemical odor, and I want to make sure that doesn't happen with another one. Did this carrier smell bad w?

I did not notice a smell. I love this carrier. It is big enough for my fat cat and it is perfect for her. Lots of openings and very well made.
