I have bursitis in my left shoulder. My doctor told me to ice the shoulder for 30 minutes at a time. I tried using the simple ice pack and Velcro strap you can get at Walgreens, but it wouldn't stay in place. My wife found this wrap specifically for shoulders and bought it. When I received it, I put it on as soon as the ice pack was cold. The wrap keeps the ice pack placed right over my bursitis, and it doesn't slide around. Very simple to use and perfect for my needs. Its design should allow it work with large and small people. I highly recommend this wrap.

I am adding this comment about two weeks after I did the initial review. Nothing has changed as far as the product is concerned but my diagnosis has changed. It turns out to be more than a rotator cuff problem. The surgeon is recommending a shoulder replacement due to severe arthritis. Even though the problem is far worse than originally reported I still get relief from my pain with the hot packs.This is a welcome relief for my rotator cuff injury. It is not magic but it does hold the insert (cold or hot) in place on the upper arm. I am using mine with heat and it is very satisfactory. The manufacturer does not recommend using a microwave to heat the insert so I bought replacement Roscoe inserts and they fit just fine in this unit and work extremely well. As an experiment I tried microwaving the original insert and it heats up almost as good as the Roscoe. If you do use the microwave please be cautious and don't over due the heating. Sixty seconds is plenty.The picture shows a normal sized man wearing the wrap and it fits him perfectly. I am somewhat larger ( Size 56 Long ) and it does fit me, though not as well as the model. There is plenty of adjustment for arm size but I am going to have to make a replacement chest strap. This is not a knock on the quality as it will fit 95% of people right out of the box.

I purchased this brace because of a recent shoulder injury. What i didn't realize (because i was in pain and in need of one, so i ordered one based off reviews instead of reading...) that it also comes with a gel pack that inserts into the brace.I know you are thinking, "Why couldn't i just duct tape a bag of ice to my shoulder?". Well for one thing, this brace is surprisingly comfortable. It holds the ice pack tight to my shoulder and wraps around the body for extra support. I was very impressed the motion i still had in the brace. It was not like i was wearing a few bamboo sticks and wool covered duct tape like some others i have had in the past.The other surprise I found out it was you can also boil the gel pack and have heat! Which my PhD in googling symptoms tells me that shoulders are best healed with a combo of ice and heat. Great to know i have options and flexibility all in one very well priced product.In conclusion, i highly recommend this product if you need a shoulder wrap for support and temperature healing. I do not think it will be of much use on any other part of your body... without more Velcro or duct tape.

Definitely doesn't work well for me. The picture is a little deceiving. The guy in the picture must have a tiny shoulder because anyone with real muscle mass will not fit well in this product. I have pain in my A/C joint and I'm trying to support as well as ice it and this product doesn't reach the top of my shoulder as well as wrapping around my arm. Look for a product that has compression on the arm and can also wrap over the top of the shoulder. Again a smaller shoulder might work in this. Definitely disappointed.

I purchased this product because I have chronic pain in my left shoulder and I go back and forth between hot and cold on my shoulder. I have been looking for a way to put the hot/cold directly where I need it and this does the trick. I really enjoy the cold because it last for quite a long time and I can put where it is needed and I can walk around and don't have to stay in one spot while using it. It can be put on by yourself but it is easier to have someone help you so you make sure to get it right where you need it. I really didn't care for using it while hot because I just couldn't get it warm. After it was put on after putting it in hot water I couldn't even feel it. I will try it again and try to get the water hotter and leave the gel pack in longer. I'm just excited about it being for a direct area and the specific area I need.

Bought this to help with my right shoulder impingement problem, and I really like it. It took me a few tries to get it assembled right, but I figured it out by looking at images on the product page. I found that with the gel pack inserted, it is almost impossible to get the same look as the product photo, i.e. with the top flat against the top of the shoulder. My trick was to place the gel pack in the freezer with a bend where I needed it. Voilà, much better. I rated comfort as average, because when put on over a tee shirt, the elastic strap tends to pull everything up, so I’m constantly adjusting the shirt. Yes, the photo shows the product on a bare chest, but I refuse to take the shirt off every time I need relief. Is this a big deal? Nope!One thing I’m not thrilled about is heating the gel pack. I’ve obeyed the no-microwave recommendation thus far, but getting the right temperature (130 is perfect for me) in hot water is ridiculous. I’ve resorted to using my sous vide immersion cooker to get the right water temperature, but I’ll be using the microwave (50-60 seconds, I think) in the future.Compared to other similar products, the price for this one is a real bargain. I’d definitely buy this product again. My shoulder says “thank you.”

I had shoulder surgery a few years ago, and still have problems, including quite a bit of discomfort. This wrap is really nice. First off, the velcro makes it adjustable to any body type/ size, and the material is really soft and comfy against my skin. The pack stays cold for a very long time too. I love it because I can do stuff around the house while wearing it, instead of just sitting or laying down. It appears to be made quite well, and should hold up for hopefully a very long time. I Highly recommend this wrap.
