Expected more
This looked like a real boon for people like me with no previous tablet experience. I have always preferred to have a book in hand and dislike the trend toward online manuals or in-device "help" in cameras, tablets and more. With the page size of this book I expected life-size, easy-to-read renderings of how to navigate through the Kindle. Instead, there are intros to information followed by : then a small design where a rendering or photo should be. It's like all the usable information was left out. For novices, it would be invaluable to have a step-by-step how-to drawing or photo. Why else have the book if you can't identify icons or ways to navigate back and forth? Maybe my book is defective (or perhaps it's my aging brain??!!).

the info l was seeking not found
The book answered a lot of my questions , but not two that I needed. When clicking on something on the website, message would flash, ' to many tabs open ' , and I couldn't view the info.I wanted to know what are tabs, how can they edited, manipulated or deleted. The second thing was how to take photos that had been e-mailed to me , and put them in the device section under my photo menu.

Not thorough enough
with my new Kindle Fire HD, I had a lot of questions about how to do things, how to navigate, setting up mail, the carousel, etc this book was very general when I needed details. I did not feel it gave nearly enough info on even basic fuctions i was disappointed with this purchase and found more answers on Amazon community boards at no cost. Save your money.

A Newbies Guide to Kindle Fire: Kindle Fire HD 8,9, Kindle for dummies
a good way to get started, some very basic items, like how to reset the clock ( it is still 2 hours off), are not included. If you are going to write for Newbies, then assume that the Newbies knows nothing about the Kindle Fire HD. I took it to work for my younger tech minded colleagues to help me out.

WAIT! I THINK YOU CAN DO BETTER!
There is very little information in this book to help a new user of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9". It has large print and is only 46 pages long. Some pages have as few as six sentences on the page. Most of the pages have one to three LARGE designs on them which appear to have been placed there to take up space. Furthermore, the actual diagrams on the pages that might have been helpful are blurred and too small to read without a flashlight and a magnifying glass. Ridiculous! I should have ordered a different book; but as I remember, there was not much from which to choose on the new Fire HD 8.9". I will wait for some of the new manuals to be published. Be careful when you order a manual and make sure it is for the Fire HD 8.9" and not for the earlier Fires.

A Newbies Guide to Kindle Fire
This book is useful, but a bit thin in coverage and subject material. What is included is good information, however there are better and more thorough books covering far more information. I gave my copy to a friend who just got their Kindle and wanted the manual that is not included.

Kindle should have come with this book.
This is a must buy if you're not familiar with the Kindle Fire HD 8.9. We got 3 Kindle HD 8.9s for holiday gifts for our family and were a bit confused since there isn't any kind of manual. I just received this book today and am only a few pages into it and already it has answered several of our questions. My son was to the point he said he would probably use his iphone and computer more than the Kindle because the Kindle didn't do that much. He is already starting to change his mind and seems a lot more excited. I'm so glad I made this purchase. There is so much more to the Kindle HD than I would have known about had I not gotten this book.

This Minute Guide was rushed out too soon!
I bought the Minute Guide for the Kindle Fire HD, and where it should have had screen shots, it had generic rectancles with an X inside! This was a total disappointment and evidently the result of rushing the book out to print. I purchased a second book about the Kindle Fire, but it did not mention the HD except that it referred to HD meaning high definition, rather than as part of the modle name. What a disappointment. Neither book helped me. A friend showed me the basics in about twenty minutes, but I wish the books were more helpful.I give the Minute Guide one reluctant star. Where was the editor or proof reader?

Budget book
A very basic guide written from the American point of view, this can be a bit off putting. I knew most of the stuff already and had worked out other things myself. Not sure what the silly logo is all through the guide. It would have been better with some pictures. Not all a waste of money though as it appears not to have been written with just Amazon in mind. Some useful money saving tips. If you want a budget, easy to follow guide this is Ok.

Not an expensive book
and containing lots of useful stuff. Much of this is actually in the Kindle's own User Guide, but, if you're like me, you want to be using the tablet and therefore need to have the information somewhere else ie: in a book. These Users' Guides inside the actual machine are OK but what if you want to put the info into practice? Then you have to move off-screen.

A must for new owners
It has a few tips that would not be easy to determine without this advice.Simply read it all the way through then it is easy to dip into for advice on shortcuts and techniques after that

This is basic
This runs through the basics. If you have navigated to this comment section using your kindle fire hd, you don't need this book
