Use 5/8 inch socket or wrench to wind and crimp new band on boot. Tool is easily disengaged from the band after the band is tightened. Review: Worked perfectly for Honda band clamps - If you're a professional, this is probably not the tool for you, but it's pretty good. I was skeptical at first, but was surprised how well my bands turned out. You need to get the angle just right when tensioning. Play the tool up and down a little until you find the sweet spot. I found it to work best about 30-40 degrees above tangent (does that make sense?). I did not use a torque wrench to set the tension, instead I snugged it by hand and then pulled 1/2" more band with the tool (as the Honda manual suggests). Once you have the band where you want it, bend it up 90 degrees and remove the tool. I found the ends of the bands were easy to trim by holding the spot I wanted to cut with a pair of dikes and bending the end of the band back and forth a dozen times or so. It snaps right off, no need for a fancy cutter. Great product, low price, and it doesn't take up much room in your toolbox.
