It's a great fun book!!! Makes everything easy, simple, step by step. At first when you're starting, it might look like you messed up, keep going with the instruction pics, and you will have something cool in the end!!!!

Gorgeous Designs, Excellent Explanation!
This is easily the best face painting book I've ever seen. The faces included are gorgeous, sophisticated, and well-explained . . . there are many, many pictures for the various steps of each face, with written explanations and tips alongside each. The authors begin with several pages of clear instruction on how to achieve different effects with different supplies. I appreciate the fact that they give advice on what to look for in the products you purchase, but don't push brands. The faces are then divided into two sections: friendly and fiendish.Friendly faces include: blue jay, bunny, butterfly, car, cat, chameleon, clown (a melting rainbow clown face), two fish kissing, flower, giraffe, happy bat, jaguar, knight, lion, monkey, night sky, peacock, piglet, princess, puppy, rainbow (swirling around the eyes), eye swirl design, tiger, unicorn and zebra. The fiendish faces include: alien, bad girl mask (pink flames), beast, cyborg, Dracula, dragon, fire demon, gargoyle, goth girl, insect face, jack-o-lantern face, Mr. Hyde, mummy, orc, reptile, robot, skeleton (skull), t-rex face, werewolf, widow spider web mask, witch, wolf, xenomorph (alien), yeti and zombie. If you are looking for something for Halloween, this is the best there is. If you are looking for something for birthday parties, this would work well if you're either a very fast/good painter or if you practice the faces quite a bit ahead of time. (I face paint at parties, and I only use this one when I have about 10 minutes per kid -- if you're really fast though you might be able to pull it off in shorter periods of time as well.) Because there are enough pictures and clear explanation that these amazing faces are actually paintable!I definitely recommend reading the text in addition to just following the pictures. Although you may be able to do a fine job without it, there are a surprising number of tips which makes painting faces simpler, easier and faster.

Too Many Duplicate Ideas
The photos and instructions are good, but at least 25 of the 50 ideas are taken from their other book "Extreme Costume Makeup" which I already own.Instructions for the green skull shown on the cover do not appear anywhere in the book. There are no instructions for one of the makeups shown on the first page of the Fiendish Faces section. The ad for the book did not mention the CD that many reviewers write about, but it would have been nice to have that.

Great Extreme Purchase
Absolutely love this book, glad that I purchased it. As a beginner face paint artist, I was looking for ideas and how to's on more extreme looks. This book covers simple to extreme. Didn't realize that it came with a DVD which shows you how to create 3 looks. I love how the Wolfe brothers make it look so simple. Actually with continued practice it is.I was also impressed how most all of the looks were created with just 2 tools sponge and #3 round brush. I am excited and have been practicing every since. Quick shipping from Amazon was awesome as always. If you are starting out or if you are looking to paint more than butterflies and teardrops, pick up this book.Let's Go Ya'll!!!!!™

Too many duplicates from other books!
First, this is a fantastic book with great photos and cool designs, just like everyone says, BUT I recently bought the Wolfe Brothers Step-by-Step book for Animals, and 12 out of the 15 designs in that book are also in this Extreme book! I was so mad when I started flipping thru and saw the exact same designs that I already paid for! That is the only other Wolfe book I own, so I am now very hesitant to buy any more since those designs are probably in this one as well. I'm very surprised that they published the same designs in two different books, even using some of the exact same pictures. Oh well... like I said, great book, but definitely be wary of picking up their other cheat books without first finding out what the designs are and comparing them. I am excited to watch the videos though.

WOOOOOWWWW!!!
This book is a must-have for face painters! The tips are so helpful! The book begins with the simple stuff like materials you need to start painting, then it shows great tips on sponge, brush, shading/outlining and even cottom swab techniques! The 25 friendly faces and 25 fiendish faces are each shown step-by-step in great detail (and some more tips) and then one whole page of the finish face. The video is a great tutorial to see Nick and Brian in action! They're just simply amazing and this book is a great reflection of what they can share! Awesome book! You wont regret buying it!

Great starter Halloweeen Makeup book
Great basic makeup book for basic Halloween makeup. This is nice to have if you have very little or basic skills in applying makeup and you want a few more tools to add to your arsenal. Some really great face designs, especially the galaxy face and the green skull. Overall, a nice basic book with some good basic face painting suggestions.

Good idea book
I liked this book. It was easy to follow the step by step painting. It was also nice for the kids to look and choose instead of trying to come up with their own what they want. You do have to be careful with a couple of the designs because your hairline makes a difference. So far everyone has liked the outcome of the painting.

Great results are possible with this book
I bought this book after trying to paint my daughter's face so she looked like a pirate. Oh dear! I didn't do very well and like all rubbish would-be face painters I blamed my tools!I quickly realised that there's quite a lot to learn about face painting and based on the other reviews for this book I made the purchase; I'm so pleased that I did. The book has a section on materials (good) and techniques (very good), and then goes on to give guidance on 25 friendly faces and 25 fiendish faces (excellent). The book is pretty much A4 sized, each friendly face has a double-page spread with a full sized finished face on the left and around 6 smaller pictures with notes on the right. This format continues with the fiendish faces, although 2 or 3 of the more complex ones run to 4 pages. There is also a 30-minute DVD included which shows 2 extra demonstrations. As another reviewer mentioned, it would be an improvement if this was spiral bound so that it opened completely flat, but hey ho, it's still manageable! If you happen to new to face painting (me!), then do be prepared to spend a fair amount of money on materials if you'd like to get the best results. The sky's the limit, but I reckon at least £25 to start, and more like £50 for a good starter selection kit.Good book and good luck!Update 21-11-15Have spent quite a bit of time with this book recently and have had some very complimentary comments from my daughters' parents. The main point of the update is to say that it can take rather a long time to paint a fiendish face on a five-year-old; in my case it was an hour and three-quarters but really worth my efforts and my daughter's patience!

So many compliments!
It gives you really great skills and initiative into how to face paint brilliantly! Very easy to follow and quick to do even though they look complicated. It's also easy to modify any of the designs if you're going for a slightly different look, you can use information in the book as a basic guide line once you're comfortable playing around. An excellent buy! I'm not going to get bored of this one for LONG time!

Easy to follow. Great for parties etc.
I bought this as my kids are always asking me to facepaint, but I'm bored of tigers and dogs. Some of them are highly detailed and not easy to do on kids, but for Halloween or fancy dress parties, they are ideal. Most of the guidelines are really easy to follow, allowing even complete beginners to get a professional look.I love looks like the peacock as they are simple and elegant, yet look amazing.

Good ideas, well explained
Gave it to my teenage cousin for Christmas. Has some great ideas in it and appears to be very well explained, and they don't seem too insanely difficult either! (or at least, not all of them do!)Will have to borrow it sometime!

A must for face painters!
Great book filled with varied designs and easy to follow instructions.Disk was very handy.Would recommend that you photocopy the designs to display rather than letting children look through the book as it will save time when you are working :)Great buy, highly recommend.
