I never thought that Love Camp 7 would ever be released on Blu-ray
I never thought that Love Camp 7 would ever be released on Blu-ray. Nonetheless Blue Underground has released a Blu-ray edition of the uncensored version of this movie. It's amazing how this company was able to locate and use this movie's original 35 millimeter negative print to produce this product. Needless to say this special edition of Love Camp 7 makes all previous releases totally redundant.

Great picture quality
The video quality is excellent. The story is not for everybody and the acting could be better but, for its type, it is very good.

Cheesy, Sleazy, and Pretty Nasty
I had never even heard of this film until I watched the marvelous 2014 British documentary titled "Video Nasties".It was through that documentary that I learned of a number of banned films, of varying quality and merit. And when I found Love Camp 7 (1968) on Amazon at a comparatively cheap price, I thought: "what the heck, I'll check it out".Well, anyway, I cannot honestly say that I enjoyed this film. Not only is it crude, cheap, badly acted, and unconvincing, it is also offensive, vulgar, and disturbing. In other words, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Now, I will say that there are a few segments, here and there, that are somewhat effective, and some members of the cast actually do a decent job of acting, but the movie as a whole is awkwardly put together, technically sloppy, and grotesque. The worst performances, by far, are by the Nazi "prison guards"; I've seen plays at my local high school where the young students did a much better job of acting. Also, the "prison commandant" chews the scenery shamelessly; he hams it up and mugs at the camera and is pretty terrible to watch. I kept waiting for his scenes to end; they were that bad.I guess some people get an erotic charge out of these Nazi exploitation films, but I certainly couldn't find anything sexy about this movie. There is a lesbian scene that some other reviewers seem to have enjoyed, but, like the rest of the film, that segment is awkwardly photographed, clumsily edited, and not very compelling or convincing. This movie may very well be "tame" by some of today's standards, but it still has a decidedly nasty and creepy edge to it. Just the scene of the prisoner licking the commandant's boots was enough to make me cringe and turn away. Some viewers will no doubt enjoy this film as an exemplar of early grindhouse exploitation cinema, but I simply thought it was too icky and twisted for me to ever want to view it again.[Extra features include an interesting poster gallery, some revealing on-the-set photographs, and a hosted trailer compilation of numerous other exploitation films.]

Campy and fun
When reviewing LOVE CAMP 7, I took into consideration the time period in which it was released. I had to do this because, frankly, the movie is very tame compared to today’s standards. But back in the day, I can see where it was considered extremely obscene. From what I understand, this film basically ushered in the Nazisploitation era, and therefore it should be heralded as a cult classic. It’s a lot of fun, too, though; I found myself chuckling and cringing throughout. And regardless of whether you are fan of exploitation films or not, there’s simply too much quality here not to enjoy.Ok, I don’t know if this film is really based on fact or not, but it is fun to think that it is. Still, I can very easily see instances like this occurring during the war, and as such, this is a very feasible scenario.LOVE CAMP 7 is shot fairly well, but the movie looks great onscreen. The HD transfer looks excellent, and I love how vivid the picture quality is. Likewise, the sound quality is top notch as well. The acting is basically atrocious…but you don’t watch exploitation films to see stunning performances. As such, it is completely forgivable. Maria Lease and Kathy Williams do a decent job as the WAC officers charged with infiltrating the Love Camp. But everybody else, particularly those actors portraying the German officers, is terrible. The story in LOVE CAMP 7 is interesting, especially if it is actually based on true events. But even so, the middle drags a bit. Just slightly, but enough to warrant mention here. Again, though…this is exploitation, so you just forgive it and move on.As I mentioned, the film is very tame when compared to those made today. Granted, there is quite a bit of nudity (mostly from the waist up), but the shock value is no longer there. The atrocities to which the women are subjected are not shown onscreen for the most part (the worst we see is a woman who is set atop a wooden device known as the Seat of Honor, a device intended to torture her nether-region), and the worst carnage we see is a little bit of blood. But even so, LOVE CAMP 7 is a win for me, and I recommend this gem from decades gone by for anybody who likes exploitation or grindhouse films.

What was censored?
First off the service was very good. It arrived quickly and intact. The low review though is for the film. First off let me say the BR transfer was really good for an old film. Quite pleased with that. But I question what was censored before? As far as Nazisplotation films go it was pretty tame. I have a collection of the genre and this film was PG 13 compared to many of the others I have. I'd be happier if this BR wasn't so expensive.
