Human Anatomy & Physiology

Too pricey!
It does what I thought it was going to do. I am currently taking A&P I and so far so good. I decided to purchase this new version since I also need it for A&P II but I could of saved a lot of money if I had just purchased the old version. They are exactly the same and my teacher allows it. Bummer....But the product is great. It is understandable and to the point. The CD roms and the atlas that come with it are ok, but not neccessary, I guess if you need more practice. Just wish it wasnt so expensive!

The best Anatomy & Physiology book I've Had!
I've been in school for a while now. I've attended community colleges, universities and state colleges...and I've taken a fair share of Biology courses. Over the years I've noticed that other books may have great pictures or text but never both. This book has both, and its WONDERFUL! I have yet to see the newer editions of this text, but let me tell you all that this is the best comprehensive textbook for physio and anatomy. The text is simple to understand, and the pictures are well placed for ultimate A's in your class guys! Seriously, get this book, it's amazing for learning :D Good luck!

Besides being scammed for money...
Instead of talking about the book itself, I'm just going to rate how well evergreen_textbook did. All I have to say is, I couldn't have asked for more! I ordered it on June 6 and I just got it today (June 9). Not only did they ship it extremely fast, it was in almost new condition. I've looked through the book and the other pen markings I saw was in the first few pages. No pages were torn; the spine of the book was perfect; and the overall appearance was almost flawless (a little scratches, but that's just due to use!). My only complaint is the price, although the $70 I paid for was a lot cheaper than my college bookstore was asking for ($110 for a used copy). I know who I will buying my textbooks from in the future!

If you're looking to use this in place of the current edition...
If you're looking to use this in place of the current edition in order to save $$$: Yes, I have been able to use this edition to work around paying the $150-200 for the current book (the current edition still runs 75-100 in "acceptable" condition on Ebay). BUT, it is confusing sometimes. Prepare to be lost on occassion and have to work a little extra to keep up w/ the class. Also, there are some minor chages that I see coming up on the ocassional test question. Nothing much but there is a minor question or two that I don't know simply because it wasn't in this edition. Mind you, nothing much. I still have a high A in the class.So- If you have the $$ to burn maybe you should pick a used (or even new??) copy of the next edition. But if you're going to school on your own dime, or want to saver your parents a good bit of $$, or you don't want to make your school loans a good bit bigger than they have to be: Join those of us that almost ALWAYS buy the older edition for most all classes that still require a hard book. JSUK, we're the ones that look a little confused in class sometimes...& Just as an fyi, the money I saved on just 2-3 of my books (medical term & this AP class-both this book & the lab manual) more than paid for my entire medical reference library. Taber's, Melloni's, Stedman's, Netters flash cards (4th edition), Netter's Atlas 6e, just to mention a few.*Rating* the book it self is probably a 5 star. I honestly never think of text books that way. The school or prof picks them out for whatever reason & you're stuck with them. This one is pretty good as textbooks go. The only reason I took off 1 star is because its an outdated edition for most classes so you have to work harder sometimes to get the same info. If for some reason your instructor is still using this edition for your class, consider this a 5 star rating.

Excellent book
I'm taking Human Anatomy & Physiology (Sept. 2012) and this 8th edition is just as good as the most current edition! There's hardly any changes in it, so I saved $200 by buying it from Amazon vs purchasing it at the college bookstore. Amazon also sent a CD of anatomy systems and a spiral binder of colored photos. This book is easy on the eyes with lots of photos to help one better understand the concepts. I HIGHLY recommend this book. I have a BS in biology already and am going back to school to get my RN.

Great book!
Used this book in A&P 1 and 2 l. Now I reference back to it while I'm taking a cadaver lab this semester. I had other medical books, but this was always the one that game me more details and easier to understand. No its not going to be a medical atlas with in depth details youll see in post health care professional schools, but for undergraduate it gets the job done. I have no issues and I even talked other students into getting it because it helps with our labs and lectures.

Great Book, Different from Next Edition
I agree with everyone who says this is a great resource, but I just wanted to make a quick comment about differences between this and the next edition (or 9th, which is now available). I'm only 6 chapters in, and there have been several differences between my book and my lab partner's. New pictures, some differences in labeling on diagrams, and page numbering discrepancies that I would guess are caused by edited information. I know I missed at least one test question because of these differences. However... I'd still buy it again. Just know it is different, but to me, not different ENOUGH.

I definitely don't prefer this book or author
My first semester of Anatomy & Physiology used the textbook Visual Anatomy & Physiology by Martini, Ober & Nath (ISBN13: 978-0-321-78667-8). My next semester class for A&P II was online through a different school and required I buy the Human Anatomy & Physiology-8th edition by Marieb. I am disappointed in the Marieb textbook. All the detailed information for the subject is there but the layout is daunting and lacks enough visual support. I miss my first textbook's detailed pictures, diagrams, tables, and easy layout of the text content. I am a student that is split down the middle between visual and text learning--I have to learn using an equal portion of both pictures and text for it to sink in. The Marieb book just reads like stereo instructions. If I had a choice on which textbook I was allowed to use, I would choose the Martini, Ober & Nath textbook based purely on having the best organization and readability.

Marieb writes excellent textbooks
This is a decent textbook for Pathophysiology. Texts by Netter are best for 3D Anatomy. In Canada it takes 2 heavy academic years to become a Registered Massage Therapist.
