Review: Makes a great sub-meter for real-time monitoring of water usage - I purchased this meter because it offered the ability to give real-time information on water usage. I installed it downstream from the water company meter and ran a ~15' cat5 ethernet cable to my irrigation controller box and wired it to a Raspberry Pi (with a couple of 4.7K resistors inline to protect the Pi from shorts). A simple python script monitors the water meter and logs usage. Other scripts provide hourly alarm reports and daily reports on water usage. Regarding accuracy, this meter agrees to within about 2% of the Sensus iPerl meter that the water company uses. In terms of usefulness, the meter immediately pointed out a slow leak which turned out to be a slowly-running toilet (warped flapper) that I hadn't been told about. It also informed me that my drip irrigation system probably has some leaks in it, based on the amount of water used when it runs.

**Q: Is this meter certified to be lead-free?**
A: Hello, thank you for your interest in our water meters.  No I would not say it is certified to be lead free.  But the reason switched from brass to stainless steel was because California mandates the use of Low Lead Brass and stainless steel is inherently lead free (thus avoiding the entire issue).  We use 304 grade stainless steel in these water meters.  The elements used in 304 stainless steel are easy to find on the web, here is one example:  http://asm.matweb.com/search/SpecificMaterial.asp?bassnum=MQ304A

**Q: max flow rate?**
A: It's accurate up to 22 gpm.  It will read higher flow rates, I've measured up to 34 gpm(filling a bathtub), but I have no idea how accurate it is at that rate.

**Q: Does this meter meet all requirements for use with potable (drinking) water in the US?
What pressure drop should be expected at 5, 15, and 20 gpm?**

measurement of water flow is not accurate. Measurement is so off that I can not tell how much was used. It defeats the purpose of sub metering
