not quite as thick and spongy as I hoped for
Its pretty good. Nice and non-slip, decent quality. only thing is its not quite as thick as I expected. I did buy a different brand a year or two back from Mohawk, which is considerably thicker and spongier than this one, and that one I think is better overall (although it does cost a bit more). I guess you get what you pay for. I'm not unhappy with this pad, but I think I would pay a little more to get a thicker one, as it definitely gives a nicer feel under your rug if you like to hang out on the floor a lot! PS. I'm not paid for this or otherwise biased, just giving my 2cents

so sick of having to trim rug pads!
I've purchased several rugs over the years due to aging children or destructive pets and have to say that I am so SICK of having to trim these things! IT just shouldn't be a necessary step! The rug pad should ALWAYS be smaller than the rug. So if the manufactures would, as a general rule, make the rug pads a few inches sorter and narrower than the rugs for which they are intended, the customer won't have to go the extra mile to trim, the manufacturer saves on materials and therefore costs...everybody wins! And unless you have an industrial pair of scissors handy, these are NOT easy to trim. And even with the best scissors it's still a hassle.Yes, it adds cushion. I can't speak to how well it is holding the rug in to place b/c my husband hasn't returned yet from his trip and he is usually the one to cause the rug to shift (still love you!)So I'm dinging two stars for poor design (1) which diminishes customer experience (2). These things are important, People! Just ask Apple!

Nice for the price!
I wanted a thinner carpet padding to go with a rug with a low pile height. This was the 5' x 7', which came folder and not rolled. I preferred this since ends didn't curl. I just thought it was funny that it was packed in a box with protective brown paper. The rubber dots on the bottom of this pad does keep it in place, which is very disappointing to my dog. She loves to run into a different room and cause the rug to slide. I would be annoyed if it wasn't so funny. The padding itself is also quite dense so I don't expect it to fall apart too easily. This was one of the cheaper felt pads I looked at so I am pleased with the quality. I would recommend spending more for felt pads instead of the rubber mesh type.

Good gripping rug pad with breathable surface.
The manufacturer of our engineered wood floors says that rugs and pads with rubber or latex backing will cause the wood to become discolored. They recommend using felt or other natural fiber to allow air to penetrate to the floor, preventing discoloration. The Alpine Neighbor pad is made of felt with little rubber (latex?) dots on the bottom, so it does not have a layer that would prevent the floor from "breathing". The dots work well to hold the pad in place.

All Good Things To Say
I had purchased a felt rug pad from West Elm a few years ago and I swear by felt rug pads ever since. However, as you might imagine, WE was fairly expensive. This pad is nicely thick, it has the added bonus of the rubber grips. Now the rug we had on our hardwood floor no longer slides around. I will be keeping an eye on the rubber pads for the future as I have seen hardwood floors ruined by rubber pads. I don't think this will be problem, but I will update if it is. Also, dimensions were just perfect.

Very happy with this rug pad
I wasn’t sure what to expect in ordering a rug pad sight unseen, but am very happy with what I received. It was easy to cut to fit; the padding, if not plush, is substantial and thick enough to add a bit of cushion underfoot, and with the small bumpy underside stays put well on my hardwood floor without leaving a stickiness that I wished to avoid. I would definitely recommend this pad.

No more slipping and sliding
I wasn't optimistic about this purchase; I thought that the rubber dots would be too small to keep the pad from sliding against my floor. But it grips very well, and I think this is much less likely to damage my floor finish over time as have those all-rubber pads I've tried in the past. The felt surface keeps my rug from moving, and the felt has no smell at all.

Works perfectly!
This pad stays in place perfectly using tiny little dots that don't suction or stick onto the hardwood floors so I don't have to worry about damage to the finish. The pad seems very sturdy and is just the right thickness. It was easy to cut it to fit. I think it is an excellent value.
