Great Product
I purchased this to install in the treatment rooms of my dental office. The installation was easy(I installed into a wood stud). The product is sturdy and ergonomic. I don't lean on the product and I don't do much typing, however, when I type it is sturdy, does not bounce and there is plenty of room for my keyboard and mouse. It is worth the price and fit my needs perfectly.

Flight sim use-update
UPDATE: I am bumping up to 4 stars. I ended up using the wrist pad after all. With keyboard elevated away from flight controls it keeps me from hitting extra keys and it keeps the keyboard from sliding around. I have moved the arm several times with different configurations. Overall it is a solid unit.MY SETUP:I have a fairly extensive flight sim setup. Recently I added an expensive flight sim chair and attached a high end HOTAS system to it. This in addition to all the desk mounted yoke, throttle, CDU, dual monitor, etc. So I needed to move the keyboard and had no place to put it. Both desk and chair are already overloaded. After much searching and reviewing, this seemed like the almost perfect solution. It will allow me to mount the keyboard on my right side just past my joystick and near enough to my mousepad mount. Also, I don't need a keyboard holder with room for a mouse pad. Surprising how hard it is to find one like that! This should just fit my nice keyboard. The only downside I see so far, is it lacks a tilt feature. But if that makes it less wobbly, then it is a good trade off. [the above was before I received the unit. the below is after I installed it]MY REVIEW:1) Materials/construction quality-A) ARMS: The aluminum arms are outstanding. Very solid. The metal mount to the wall is a tank, if you drill holes into a wall stud. I used a 1/4" drive ratchet for the 13mm socket, and that was a challenge. Use a 3/8" if you can. But, besides a sore palm, that thing is never coming out of the wall. Most of the arm hardware is metal. The only downside is the plastic sleeves that are in the pivot holes. One was not glued in very well and kept falling out when I was working on the install. Be sure not to lose the little metal tab that may fall out, as mine did. Because of that I give this category 4/5 stars.B) KEYBOARD HOLDER: Almost a fail here! Yes, it is sturdy enough. But that is the only good thing. It is super slick plastic (dust and fingerprint magnet). It does NOT tilt forward, only sideways (Why?). The mouse plate (which I did not even need) slides freely thru a slot on each side. It constantly slides when trying to mount the thing. I finally stuffed some packing foam into it to keep it closed. I doubt it would be very sturdy if I did need to use it. Very thin plastic. I love the width of the holder...just right for my keyboard, but the depth is way too large. I don't need the tape and stick wrist pad that is to be stuck in front of the keyboard. The keyboard is floating in the air and my wrist doesn't even need to touch it. I have it mounted to my right side, and there is very little room. In fact I ended up just using one of the 2 arms (an option indicated in the instructions) and it places it in just the right spot. I wish the keyboard, sliding mouse tray complex was just a solid piece. I would cut it down to a size better for my needs. 1 star.2)Design:I love the arm design. The heavy duty aluminum looks great as part of my extensive flight sim setup. Hate the keyboard design. The arm looks industrial, the keyboard holder looks like Mattel toys made it (they might do a better job). There have been several complaints about it in other reviews. It is time it was updated for the 21st century. 3 stars.3) Price:It is pricey. But I could not find anything close to it for my needs, so on the one hand I am willing to pay more for what I need. On the other hand, given the issues mentioned above, I cannot say it is completely a premium product at this premium price. 3 stars.4) Instructions/installation:Instructions are not the worst I have seen. Be sure to read through them a few times before doing the install. There are some page number errors, and near the beginning it seems to be talking about a monitor holder, not a keyboard holder, But it is doable. The install of the bolts takes work, but it is appropriate as it gives the whole thing a sold mount. I feel confident in everything up to the keyboard holder (which oddly uses very small screws...if you strip any you are screwed!) 3 stars.OK....that is it. I have not finished tweaking the tension adjustments, but they seem fairly straight forward. I want to use it awhile and adjust as needed. All in all, I am leaving my rating at 3 stars. I think it will work well enough for some and be a pain for others.

Amazing product, wish I bought it years ago
This is perfect for my odd PC setup. I have no desk. I sit in-between 2 monitors attached to sturdy end tables on poles and arms. This fits one of my monitor poles perfectly. It's sturdy and most important, the arm stays put once you have it in the position you want. I'll probably buy another for my other similar setup.

Installed at home
I bought this because I have a large U-shaped custom countertop I put together for my gaming area. I needed something for my keyboard to easily be brought out from below the countertop and go back under when not in use. I mounted the base against the side of the cabinet with 4 1-1/4" 10/24 machine screws and used a lock washer, washer, and nut on the inside of the cabinet...about 8" back form the edge of the countertop. Since this isn't a traditional set-up I needed something very specific to make this work as I need it to extend to about 24"+. This thing installed in less than an hour and works better than I expected. Totally worth the money.

Amazing... except for the cheap and flimsy keyboard tray
I've had an Ergotron dual monitor arm desk mount for almost 10 years now and it's amazing. Very high quality and worth every penny. Better than any other monitor arms on the market, period. This is what makes this keyboard arm so disappointing. I expected so much more from Ergotron, especially for the $300 price tag.The arm itself is just as high quality as the monitor arms, however, the actual keyboard tray is made of cheap plastic, as well as the mouse tray that slides out from the keyboard tray. A keyboard tray mounted on an arm like this should, at the very least, be made of higher quality, denser, and heavier plastic, but honestly I was expecting at least some metal on the keyboard and mouse tray to give it some more weight and a solid feel.Because the trays are so lightweight and flimsy, the whole thing moves around far too much while I type and use the mouse. You can feel the mouse tray bending slightly under pressure while in use as well. I understand this is not a solid/stationary surface so I shouldn't expect it to feel 100% like I am typing with the keyboard sitting on one, but this is far below my expectations for such a pricey unit and from such a reputable company such as Ergotron. This seems like such an easy fix too - why not just add a metal panel underneath the keyboard and mouse trays to brace them both and prevent flex as well as give the tray some weight? A large portion of the arm is made of high quality aluminum so I can't imagine it would be very difficult, or much more expensive, for a company as well equipped and established in this market segment to add just a little more aluminum to the trays components to really give this entire product the solid feel I expect at this price point.I was hoping for this to be the component that ties together my audio workstation area, but honestly I cannot justify spending $300 for this and will just work with the less than desirable solution I had before. Giving this 1 star, unfortunately, as I find the build quality/materials on the tray components unacceptable for this price and will likely be returning the unit.

Quality
This is definitely a very durable and sturdy made product. This definitely could be installed in a more commercial environment like a doctors office or a business but will do just fine for a home office. There were a couple other versions of this that were significantly less money but their reviews mentioned phrases like flimsy construction or lower quality, etc. There’s a reason why this is not cheap. It’s not a cheap product.
