Decision was made to go with ridgid power spin drain cleaner rather than cheaper options as the last think I would like to have is a part of steel kable in the pipe. Spring kable is very woof quality. Around 10-15min and sink was unclogged. A drill will probably be spinning a bit too fast, an electric screwdriver would be better. While it is harder work, imho there are advantages in doing it manually, because you can then feel it when you encounter bends in the pipe, when you clear the bends (handle suddenly becomes easier to turn clockwise), and when the auger gets stuck by whatever it is (handle unwinds itself counterclockwise as much as you have wound it clockwise, when you let it go). These feedbacks are useful because they allow you to have some mechanical sympathy, and telling you to apply different courses of action in using your tool. A key point is if the auger is stuck, stop trying to advance it or spin it, best to reverse it back (trigger pulled while spinning handle counterclockwise) until it is no longer stuck, then advance only a little while spinning clockwise a lot to break up obstacle, repeatedly, before advancing again. **Q: can you use a drill with it** A: yes, the manual turn handle comes off & there is a shaft that the drill attaches to. The trigger handle allows the auger to feed out or retract automatically as desired.
