**Q: Is this hon, shio, or shin mirin?**
A: This is not hon, shio, or shin marin. It's aji mirin which means "tastes like mirin." It's not true mirin at all. That's why the word sake does not appear anywhere on the label.

**Q: is mirin and aji mirin the same?**
A: Aji Mirin = sweet cooking wine
Mirin = cooking wine
It depends on which products that you're comparing with, some of them contains low volume of alcohol and some not.

**Q: What are the ingredients in this item?**
A: Per the ingredients list: glucose syrup, water, alcohol, rice, corn syrup and salt.

**Q: This product has no expiration date on the product.  How do you tell the expiration date?**
A: Mine also had no expiration date. I do not recommend this product.  Very little of it is Mirin and much consists of extenders such as corn syrup.  It imparts a fake, hyper-sweet taste to a dish. I still have it in my cabinet because it was too cold to put in the compost where it is going soon.  Please more careful than I was in reading the list of ingredients and buy the real thing.

I really wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered this. I knew it was used for cooking, but I wasn't sure what kind of flavor it would have. But after trying it out in a few dishes, I am absolutely in love with it. It isn't harsh in any way, but it provides a nice flavor to anything you add it to. Since it has alcohol, you can use it to make nice glazes and sauces, and the sugar in it allows you to caramelize steaks, vegetables, and other items you pan fry with it. I like to use it on pork steaks to give it that tiny hint of sweetness to compliment them. I also mix it in to my sticky rice, and it can be used to make desserts as well as savory foods, really amping up the flavor. It won't overpower anything with its flavor, but it will definitely add to it. It has a wonderful balance. Will definitely get again.
