I reside in the country and am plagued with groundhogs invading my garden. This product has effectively kept them from raiding my garden. It must be potent and spicy enough to keep them at bay. Review: Used a little for kitchen but bought to deter dogowner/dog from visiting our yard and it worked! - Why did you pick this product vs others?: Bought this due to being able to buy high volume to use as needed in garden. I did take a bit out and put in a spice jar for personal use, and it is very good quality, tastes great, but I bought it to use to place around my garden. I have three issues I wanted to take care of and all three were indeed handled by using this: squirrels that were digging in the garden bed, flower bed, and removing things; raccoon family that was intent on just being destructive and didnt seem to want to eat anything, just run through and dig; and most importantly a neighbor who likes to walk their dog into our yard and allow their dog to do their business in our flower garden and area and does not pick it up - they act like our yard is a dog park area but they don't pick up. Was driving me nuts but didnt want to start an issue with a neighbor. I decided to try this. It worked, the dog sniffed the edge of the yard where I had sprinkled this and just went by. Even with coaxing the dog by the owner, it didn't step in the yard. Squirrels quit visiting the garden and flower bed, and raccoons moved on. You do have to reapply when it rains, but that is fine. I think at this point it just isn't interesting to the dog or the neighbor to visit our yard anymore, and wildlife has moved on as well. So happy to have found a deterent that wasn't chemical based. I do have my own pets and I felt this would be safer should they explore or walk through the area as well. Quality: Works great as a food spice, but worked amazingly in ridding our yard and garden areas of an inconsiderate neighbor and some destructive wildlife. Functionality: Worked as expected with food. Worked beyond expectations for garden and yard use. Value for money: More than worth the price. I got some great cayenne pepper for the kitchen, kept from having a dispute with a neighbor, my yard is not so attractive to the dog anymore so the neighbor has quit visiting us and leaving behind what he should pick up, wildlife has been deterrred as well Longevity: For use around the yard, you do have to reapply after rain. However, I believe there is some residual benefits for now I don't apply as often and there is the same benefit as if I did frequently. Hope this helps! ## Features - CRANK UP THE HEAT: For those of you who enjoy the extra heat the Prima spice red pepper powder is exactly what you need Our cayenne pepper is 60000 heat units - SPICE UP ALL YOUR DISHES: Salt is not the only thing that makes a dish delicious you also need something to spice it up Add a pinch of our pepper powder in every dish and taste the difference - Kosher Gluten Free ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B08HMGLSX1 | | Age Range Description | Adult | | Brand | Prima Gourmet Spices | | Brand Name | Prima Gourmet Spices | | Coin Variety 1 | Red Pepper | | Container Type | can | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 out of 5 stars 1,664 Reviews | | Diet Type | Gluten Free | | Diet type | Gluten Free | | Item Form | Powder | | Item Package Weight | 2.47 Kilograms | | Item Weight | 5 Pounds | | Item form | Powder | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Pieces | 1 | | Produce Sold As Format | Pre-packaged | | Specialty | Gluten Free, Kosher | | UPC | 074464060269 | | Unit Count | 2266.8 Grams | | Unit count | 2266.8 Grams | | Variety | Red Pepper | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Prima Gourmet Spices - **Diet type:** Gluten Free - **Item form:** Powder - **Unit count:** 2266.8 Grams - **Variety:** Red Pepper ## Images ![Prima Spice Hot Cayenne Pepper - 5 Lb Bulk Kitchen Jug - 60000 Heat Unit - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71+MutJxgeL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: I have heard that cayenne pepper is good for skunk and other animal repellent. Does this one do this?** A: I heard it was good to stop my dog from digging holes in our fenced in rear yard. I tried it and he has stopped his digging. I am not sure about skunks though, try it! **Q: Will this damage or burn the lawn in powder or liquid form?** A: It didn't burn my carpet grass. And it was new sod put down the day before. **Q: Will this deter ground squirrels?** A: I would think that if they don't want their eyes or noses to burn, they would learn to stay away. **Q: What do I do if this item arrives damaged during shipping?** A: You Can reach out to the Company as well. Prima Spice has a great customer service. They will make sure you are happy. Also a product that arrives damaged you can contact amazon as well, being that they are the ones shipping it they take responsibility if any damages happen. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Effective groundhog deterrent. *by D***R on 8 August 2026* I purchased this product for one reason.
