Product Description La Petite Chose is a boutique brand founded in France and based in Seattle, Washington. The name means ‘A Little Thing’, celebrating the idea that even small objects, designed and made well, make a difference in our lives. About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words. soft safe sleep How did you come up with the idea for this product? I was working in France as a product designer when my children were born. As a new mother there I discovered the popular baby sleeping sack, called a ‘gigoteuse’. As many things in France, they are traditional--nearly every baby has one from birth. My own children slept in theirs from the day they were born until they were hopping around in them! They quickly associated it with a calm nap/night-time ritual so just snapping them into the cocoon of it settled them down. Combining my experience as a mother with my design training, I went on to make these for the French market. I am thrilled to introduce the same attention to detail, functionality, and quality here in the States with La Petite Chose. What makes your product special? The difference is in the design and the materials. As a creative director I met with artisans and manufacturers around the world figuring out how to make things. It became really important to me to be able to create products that are made to last—both by satisfying the user and by using good, natural materials. I believe in the philosophy of ‘buy once buy right’, essentially, buy a good thing and keep it longer. To that end I made these sleeping sacks adjustable so parents could use just 2 sizes instead of 4 or 5 before graduating their child to a blanket. What has been the best part of your startup experience? The babies! I am getting to meet parents and babies at such a wonderful moment of their lives. I love seeing babies in their sleeping sacks and hearing stories from parents about cozy bedtimes and easy nights. I’ve also really enjoyed peoples’ reactions at baby showers. Product design isn’t meant to stay in the abstract—it’s when something you make becomes a staple in someone’s life that it’s really gratifying.

Excellent Quality
I love this sleep sack. Which says a lot because I hate all the other ones. It's very soft and very warm. Probably wouldn't work great if the temperature in your baby's room is stuffy, because it is WARM. But it's very breathable and made of good quality material. If fleece makes your baby sweaty, this is a good cool weather alternative. My baby sweats easily and I don't have any problems with this as long as I don't layer him in anything more than a onesie and socks. But he also gets cold easily and so I needed something warmer than those one layer cotton sleep sacks. This is a perfect compromise. It is sewn and designed well. It has a flap to cover the zipper head thing. I have to say, I wish i could get this adult size. It is very roomy and the snaps for sizing down are clever in their simplicity.

Bought a few different sleep sacks. This one is our fave (mom and baby love). It's well made, cute, warm, baby loves the soft material it's covered in. The fit is great. We bought the large size for our 4 month old because he was +90th percentile in height and weight and it was fine. At first the arm holes were a little big, but at 5.5 months it's fine. The dual zipper is good for nighttime diaper changes if needed.We also have these other ones but this is our fave: woolino, halo baby cotton, 50/50 swaddle me

I really wanted to like these as they are very soft and the design is sweet however they are not ideal for older babies. My daughter is eighteen months and the large sacks barely fit her, they are often too warm, even in a NYC winter, the zipper frequently gets caught on the fabric and the main problem is that my daughter can easily unsnap the shoulder snaps and climb out of the sack in the night, which has happened numerous times. The design of these sacks could use some reworking.

Great for long babies
Great for long babies. My daughter is 9 month old and this is perfect for her if I use it at it’s full length. I like that the buttons snap and zipper goes all the way around the bottom, makes it easy to put it on and off of the baby!

This sleep sack is absolutely wonderful! It shipped beautifully packaged, includes a personal note, which to me shows that the company cares a lot about their produce. The quality of the fabric is really great and the sleep sack is nice and thick, so it keeps my baby warm all night (helping her sleep through the night)! We got the Large (M/L) and our daughter is 13 months old. She fits in it and there is still room to grow. My only regret is that I didn't buy this sooner.

Great purchase
My little guy loves the weight of this sleep sack. It is nice and cozy but he does not overheat. In the summer months, we will just reduce his layers beneath the sack. I will say the 9-24 months size is much larger than expected (detailed measurements would have been helpful, both snapped and unsnapped). My son is in 6mon clothing so I thought it best to order the larger size since his current sleep sack is 0-6mons. Not the case. I returned the 9-24 months for the 0-12months which will be large enough to get us through his first year.

Well made sleep sack
This is the second sleep sack I've purchased from La Petite Chose. My 10 month old daughter who was waking up once or twice a night now sleeps for 11 to 11 1/2 hours straight in this sleep sack. It's really soft and plush like a comforter, washes well, and I love the thoughtful details like the shoulder snaps and the sturdy zipper. I highly recommend this product.
