Harrap's French and English Dictionary (English and French Edition) Bilingual, Revised Edition

As an undergraduate French major, this is the best French dictionary I've found! One of my French professors recommended this one to me my freshman year and it's been my favorite ever since. It is well organized, has basically any word you can think of, and has all the little helpful add-ons like verb conjugations, grammar tips, and more! It is half English to French and half French to English, both of which are helpful in their own ways.I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice thorough (but compact! it's not too big!) French dictionary, whether you are just a beginner or if you are fluent. Definitely a must-have for any French speaker!

So far, this is the best French/English Dictionary that I have. I took 2 years of French in High School--20 years ago-- and now am in a University 101 class. Over the years I have had many different French reference books, including the 501 French Verbs. And this surpasses anything that I have had before. It has current, as current as it can get, information in the book. Also, if you have problems remembering the mechanics of English grammar it helps with that, too.I am so glad that I read the positive review and decided to buy this. I am not disappointed!

Good dictionary

Daughter needed this for her high school French III class -- and heading into French IV Honors next year. She said she needed more than just a pocket dictionary at this point, and this is definitely more detailed.

I 'm new at learning French, however this dictionary seem very complete and has been a pleasure to use, so far.

I was lent this in France by a host and it’s just great - excellent for examples of how to use words and phrases, so I bought it as soon as I returned home. Very good for improving vocabulary and grammar.

This would be a great personal dictionary, but I would not recommend it for use at school. It contains many swear words and multiple uses of those words in various contexts. I was disappointed to see this because I love how detailed the entries are and I love that it shows Canadian French words.

I bought this dictionary to learn French and I think it is very useful. All the words are explained clearly in English and there are also French explanations of English words. Besides, grammar is included in this dictionary. Very useful and helps me a lot when I am a beginner French learner.

Bought this to update my old French Dictionary. Love the grammar section in the middle, very useful.

Very easy to use with a useful and comprehensive centre portion on the usage of French grammar. It's not very heavy to transport it around too.
