Worked great with hand-applied gel stain..
Worked great on a set of hand stained, raw, poplar cabinet door frames. I was impressed that the gel stain did not penetrate beyond the plug edge. Not sure how these would have performed with a less viscous material, but for my purpose they worked great! Removing the plugs can be a struggle. I used a sharp wood-chisel to fit between the plastic lip and the surface of the door to lift them enough to then carefully pry-off with a small hammer. All but (2) of the 24 plugs I installed came out good-as new. The edge of two were slightly damaged, but should still work again.

Fit perfectly
They fit perfectly into the 35mm hinge holes that were cut wrong. I only wish they came in an almond color to match the laminate liner on the cabinet doors.
