A genuinely thoughtful analysis of one of the most important dramas in television history.
I'll keep my review pithy, thematically befitting this author's brief but provocative work. The reason I gleaned meaning and a substantive appreciation from Moore's analysis is likely largely because his approach to the program (and drama in general) mirrors my own; the author makes the statement at both the beginning and end of this e-book that to truly understand drama, one must be a viewer-participant. This experience requires investments beyond the time to simply watch the series in full. It requires investments of thought and emotion. Full commitment to interpreting a dramatic work demands taking a pick to our intellectual and philosophical clay, exhuming greater understanding of self and the world from within. I couldn't tell you the number of times my fiancé, friends, and family members have gathered together for hours at a time to lay out our speculative, skeletal frameworks regarding future show developments drawing down upon the denouement, and also adding "meat to the bones," so to speak - discussing the greater meaning behind names, behaviors, attire, colors, etc. The beauty of this show is that it uses a layered philosophical context, through narrative, to convey truths about the human condition. It's a sublime work of art... And I felt as if the author's voice was right at home among my loved ones, speculating and vivisecting this show, breaking it down to its core elements and laying them bare for critique and welcome debate. Walt would be proud. A very faithful and thoughtful analysis. Well done.

Interesting takes from a massively arrogant author
I wrote an extended review of Mr. Moore's other book on "Breaking Bad," entitled "Breaking Blue."Here I will simply say that Moore is a man whose perspectives are interesting, but whose writing style is stunningly pompous. You have to be determined in order to mine the worthwhile material from among the references to his future book (which became "Breaking Blue") and his myriad experiences which allegedly qualify him as an expert in interpreting "Breaking Bad" for you.If you can tolerate decent opinions from a classic blowhard, you'll enjoy it. But if a superior and sometimes supercilious attitude is not your cup of tea, you're better off watching the extras on the "Breaking Bad" DVD set.WARNING: Mr. Moore recycles most, if not all, of this book in "Breaking Blue." So make sure you don't buy them both. Choose "Blue" if you're hell-bent on reading his material.

Delightful perspective
If you love a television show as complex and layered as Breaking Bad, really smart commentary and analysis adds to the enjoyment. "Pearson Moore" is not just a observant and thoughtful fan; he's a chemist, familiar with not just the processes shown onscreen but with Walt's knowledge base and presumed capabilities -- and how those would have likely shaped his worldview. Add a wonderful analysis of the symbolism of white and grey in the show (hey, everyone's analyzed green; get with the times, gentle reader!) and it's just a really entertaining read -- the perfect antidote for one to many hasty / sloppy / lazy comment threads elsewhere on the Internet. Very much looking forward to the next installment.

A boring book that tells little about Breaking Bad
I just tried reading this book but found it to be the most boring thing I have ever attempted to read. I read maybe half of it and gave up. This book has more information that has nothing to do with the Breaking Bad TV series. Pearson Moore writes about himself and he is no Walter White. I have been a fan of the series and couldn't wait to read something to give me more insight to the program and the key figures in it but this book failed to do so. In reality it has very little to do with the series and more to do with the writer that thinks he is as interesting as Walter White because he is a chemist. His writing does not keep a person's interest if they are hoping to learn more about the show's story.

Amazingly intelligent!
I got this book for my boyfriend, who is a HUGE "Breaking Bad" fan. He is always talking about the "meanings" behind the characters's actions, what they are wearing, etc. I finally found a book to keep him company! This book is intelligently written, very interesting, and hard to put down. It really makes you think-I highly recommend this book to anyone who is into "Breaking Bad". It will really change the way you view the show!!

Outstanding insight into a story of one man's journey to be his own self.
I really enjoyed the authors vision and keen eye for symbolism and real world evidence that it is possible with the correct amount of certain compounds. Anyone is capable of "breaking bad" Can't wait for more. Almost has a hold on you like your simply hooked.

Book much appreciated
I Netflix-binge ever summer when school's out. Caught all 4 seasons of Breaking Bad. Pearson's book provided intellectual discussion missed viewing a great show in such manner.

Great Buy
Great buy. Using right now as secondary litterature for writing a paper on the subject of the show itself. Great price and while it is a thin book, there are a lot of interesting subjects in it. Only thing I found as a downside (is not necessarily a downside for others) was a heavy use of photographs throughout the book, most unrelated to the show itself and seemed a bit over the top.Otherwise a great buy. Can only recommend it - quickly read and offers a lot of nice insights.

A mistake...
I enjoyed the TV series 'Breaking Bad' immensely and I bought this book in the hope that my enjoyment would be augmented. I was very wrong. The author's analysis is obvious and superficial, really the kind of thoughts any one would have on a single viewing of the series not the product of thought, research and reflection. This volume is maybe the kind of thing that gives self-publication a bad name.
