The Chaos
The Chaos was so freaking bizarre! It was definitely a lot weirder than I thought it was going to be, but that certainly isn't a bad thing! For the last few months, Scotch has been plagued with a weird, sticky rash that just seems to keep spreading. She's managed to hide it for now (although her dance uniform will be a whole other issue), but it's becoming harder to hide the fact that she sees odd little creatures flitting around. Then one night, her exboyfriend sees them too, along with a giant bubble. No one could imagine what would come next.Like I said, The Chaos is weird. So weird. What happens after that bubble appears truly is chaos. It's like a whole bunch of random things just start happening with no rhyme or reason. A volcano shoots up in Toronto, houses start walking and laying eggs, computers turn into street lamps, Scotch has a tar baby, homeless people wake up in houses, etc. It's just so strange, and no one knows what to do about it! Scotch's brother disappeared after touching the bubble so she spends the next day searching for him while avoiding getting eaten by a witch and a giant cat! It's nonstop weirdness and excitement.I don't even know what to say about The Chaos. If you like weird, semi-apocalyptic books, then definitely check it out! It's so much fun! Also, if you're looking for diverse reads that are authentic, you'll need to read this one! Scotch and her brother are half-Black half-Jamaican, her best friend is gay, and she teams up with a wheelchair bound lesbian to save the day! There's a lot of great stuff shoved into these few pages.

A crazy world
I am a big fan of Nalo Hopkinson! While this wasn't my favorite of her works I still enjoyed it. I finished it in One night. The world she created was absolutely crazy and captivating, every page was anxiously waiting to see what else was going to spring up. I liked the main character Sojouner aka Scotch, you see her trying to find herself while also trying to ensure that she isn't bullied again. Amidst all of her identity struggles she's battling an unknown skin condition and "hallucinations". Nalo Hopkinson manages to brilliantly blend together teenage angst and drama with a world in absolute chaos and some folk lore. I enjoyed it, I wished that it was a little longer but overall an enjoyable story.

Totally unique!
I literally have no idea what I just read. But, wow! It was quite a ride! The morality is horrid, but the story was so bizarre that it was worth the reading. Wish there had been a resolution. Or an explanation. But I guess that would have been asking too much.

I really enjoyed this book
I really enjoyed this book. I read it during my lunch hours and every time I had to stop reading it killed me. Not just because I had to go back to work, but because I was always having to stop at an exciting moment, dying to know what came next. I'm above the age range for a young adult book but this book really holds up.

Really fun book to read
It took me a while to get into this book, but once I did I was totally hooked and could not put it down. It was a fun read, probably one of my favorites for the year!

This one wasn't my favorite. But that's ok
This one wasn't my favorite. But that's ok, read everything else, and then save this for in between when she has a new book out.

awesome
Nalo always takes me to worlds I could never imagine on my own. I love West Indian folklore and her books are not short of it.

Beautiful amazing book
Beautiful amazing book. I read it, lent it to a friend, and now I can't wait to get it back to reread it.
