This is a great intro to the 5
This is a great intro to the 5.0 Coyote engine family. Very well written with a solid amount of technical information. This book is maybe not 100% complete in some areas (it's not a factory shop manual) but gives one of the best high-level overview of this engine family that I've ever seen. Lots of great discussion of the design processes Ford used, resulting engine attributes, and tons of great features. If you're into modern high-tech V8s this is a great read!

Nice read.
I was a bit concerned initially because of the reviews that said it was missing information etc. IMO it's a good read. Lots of information. It's what it is, a book about the coyote motor. So little is required to make big power on the motor, thus the book covers only what is relevant to your specific power goals.Good overview of the engine design.

Worth reading
Good useful information with lots of pictures and suggestions for those of us working with or planning on working with a Coyote 5.0.I'm currently building a Factory Five Cobra Replica with a Roush supercharged Coyote 5.0. I wish only that it had been available sooner. This book is definitely recommend reading.

Not Enough New Information
I asked my wife to get this book for me for Christmas and I was excited to receive it, however I was disappointed after reading it. I have many books published by CarTech and SA Design and they are full of useful, quality information which I have used to build and maintain engines over the years. This particular book, Ford Coyote Engines, fails to provide any more insight into the design and inner-workings of the Ford Coyote than what is available in the Ford Performance Parts Catalog and on the internet. I feel this book needed more time before it was released despite the lengthy gestation period it went through before publication. I was hoping to read more deeply about the design process from an engineering-for-power perspective, especially the cylinder heads and camshaft timing. Ford has a long history with multi-valve heads, dating back to the 1960s with their relationship with Cosworth Engineering, yet this is not even mentioned. Instead this book describes Coyote port science as "wild-weird" and goes on to say "conventional port logic didn't always net them improvement". What does that mean? In addition, this book is seriously lacking in Ti-VCT information. Missing information includes Ford's published cam advance/retard information for Boss 302 cam swaps or the new intake cam mid-lock phaser on the 2015 and up Coyote which prevents valve to piston contact at startup and reduces emissions. Instead it simply describes the Gen 2 Coyote Ti-VCT improvements as "more finite in scope". What this book lacks is a deeper understanding of numbers and dimensions. I am sure with the experience author Jim Smart has he is capable of writing a more technically useful Coyote engine book, sadly this isn't the one. However, I am optimistic there will be a more technical Ford Coyote book published as the popularity if this engine (as well as other Ford multi-valve engines) continues to climb.
