**Q: How thick can the wall be**
A: I used this on 5/8" drywall. Not sure max thickness but had room to spare.

**Q: My hole is closer to 2.75 diameter. Will this work?**
A: Hole is too big. The entire thing is 2.75, so it would just fall in the wall. However you could make a little trim piece to act as a sort of washer for it and it would work
