2016 Intuit Turbotax Premier 2016 [OLD VERSION] Federal and State Fed Efile PC/MAC Disc- Old Version For 2016 Taxes Only

I've been using Turbotax for over ten years now, and it is a very good, powerful, and thorough way to do your taxes. I highly recommend it. It's got everything you need (see next paragraph), and it's easy and covers it all.I would have given it five stars, but I'm still a little ticked off about the dumbing-down that the "Deluxe" version received a couple of years ago, requiring long time users to upgrade to the "Premier" edition. Yeah, they gave us $5 off that year, but they're soaking us for the extra $15 every year.One more (albeit little, almost insignificant) problem: my disk case was broken inside, allowing the CD to rattle around loose. Luckily, the disk loaded, and I got all our returns done.I'll be back next year, even if I have to spring for the Premier edition.

I have been using Turbotax for several years and things have basically stayed the same. This year the program seems to have lost some of its functionality. An example. I receive a CSA 1099-R annuity statement. I identified it as such using one of the radio buttons. I got to several screens that were asking whether my annuity was an RMD. I basically had to lie and say it was so I could move on. In another area I had difficulty claiming a deduction for the donation of food items to a food bank. The program has been OK this year, not excellent like in the past few years.

This software or specifically the company and support is shockingly bad. First of all it wouldn't update so I had to get tech support, then they state extension would not download and I had to get tech support, then I needed support on the last day to file so I called them ... they left me on hold till literally 1 minute after midnight! Then they didn't want to help. I lost the "free" e-file because it was late. To to it all off, their tech service uses a remote desktop app to take over your computer by default when they help you, and the people on the other end controlling you computer are not techs; they are just regular support CSRs.

You have to watch the numbers, as the program doesn't always update the return correctly when going back and forth, making changes. I often had to restart the computer to get the program to calculate everything correctly.Had to know about, hunt for, and manually fill out certain tax forms to get the program to include everything needed for a larger refund. The programs do not prompt for every tax situation but most of the needed forms are in the system.

I'm always mostly happy with Intuit and Turbotax. This year, though, I let my son use my copy, and he was hit with a $20 charge for e-filing his state return (no state return here in Texas, yet). I thought that was a bit misleading of Intuit to not make that perfectly clear on the box or somewhere beside the fine print.

This is as good as turbo tax usually is. The reason for three stars is that it touts free federal E-file and that is not allowed after a certain period. I was forced to file two years late as I was medically unable to file and the program should provide notece that e-file does not work. Everything else in the program was superb. I have used Turbotax for over 20 years and ran three businesses.

This is the first time I have used a computer program for my taxes and I am never going back to long hand paper filing. This thing knows more than my accountant and guides you through the process, also it graphs your likelihood of getting an IRA audit based on your data. I can recommend this product.

it repeatedly asks me for the same information. It's done this in previous years, as well. I continue to use it because I've become accustomed to it, and I do like the "It's Deductible" feature. Unfortunately, they gouge you on the price if you buy it directly from Intuit. If you buy it elsewhere, then you have to keep entering information that hasn't changed from year to year.
