Homewara HMWA-002 Coffee Maker

Updated: DISAPPOINTEDAfter 8 months, the Dripper is developing minuscule cracks in the body, as if the plastic has become brittle. The wispy leaks are becoming more pronounced. They started with a few drops of coffee on the coaster (or the counter) which i thought were from some grinds interfering with the silicone plug reseating itself.The leaks have gradually increased, and this week i noticed a drop of coffee on the side of the dripper. i wiped it with a paper towel, and within 30 seconds or so, another one appeared. Close inspection reveals a very tiny vertical crack.The dripper is usually only used for one or two cups a day, and is rinsed or hand washed afterward. It goes through the top rack dishwasher once a month or so.This was branded 'Homeware' and sold by Amazon. It is currently "not available". The return feature in my ordering history is no longer activated.I found another dripper with a different brand that i have ordered. I suspect it is made by the same manufacturere. If it only lasts 6 months, i think it is worth it.(and I will redouble my efforts to make sure it is not left in the sink where something might get placed upon it)Caveat emptor.Original review:rfect. On time and as described.Bought this to replace the clear one, which has discolored (as disclosed and expected). It might be minerals from the water. vinegar and later denture cleaner tablets did not remove it, and the plastic itself has not degraded.Both make GREAT cups of coffee. I thought the clear one looked a little too grungy if friends are over and having a cup. I will bring that one into the office and not be concerned about the cloudiness of the device.This method is the best way to make coffee. I never thought about the immersion method until I got the clear one a few months ago.Up til now, at the end of the work day, rather than make whole pot, I have been dumping grounds into a measuring cup of water that I had nuked until it just started to boil. I let it steep a couple of minutes, then pour it through my old Melita #2 cone filter. Now I can have a delicious single mug of coffee at the office, without having to clean the grinds out of the measuring cup.Get one. You'll like it.

I cannot recommend this product enough!! My uncle owned a coffee shop in downtown LA when I was younger. Needless to say I grew up around “the bean” and consider myself a refined coffee drinker through and through. This “drip,” as I like to call it, will produce the best quality coffee you have ever tasted (that is, if your palate is up to par, like mine hahaha). The nuances that precipitate from the rubber “teat” will leave you wanting more and more. Again, only buy if you appreciate your coffee, like I do.

Easy to use. Easy to clean. Coffee comes out tasting great. Better than pour over in my opinion.
