Review: Cardo Freecom 4X - Best purchase and favorite motorcycle 'accessory'. People complain about how difficult these are to install, but the truth it, you're just a little slow. These took me about 10 minutes to install for the first time, including the removal of the padding in my helmet, the installation of the cardo, the wiring, and reinstallation of my helmet padding. There are many youtube videos that you can watch if you're confused, but it is really self-explanatory. The speakers are great and very loud, and will outstand very windy conditions on the highway at 75% volume. The audio is great, though the bass is a little weak since the speakers can only be so large for these helmets. Worth the money. Concerning communication with other cardo units, the connection process is simple. Just hold the pairing button with your other buddy, and once you hear "rider A pairing" and then "rider A ready", just click the pairing button again and you're all set. You can do it through the app, but it's a lot easier to just pair with the buttons. You can adjust how loud you want your music to be with how loud you want other units to be, so that way the talking isn't as loud as your music, or your music isn't as loud as other units. Very good.
Review: Pretty impressed - A little better than my 10 year old Sena. The sound quality is 50% better. I didn't really think I would use the voice commands, but now that is just about all I use. If I had a complaint it would be having to go through the pairing process, every time I wanted to connect to other riders still using the Sena systems (SMH10R). I was told it wouldn't work at all, but it connects right up and works well. The problem is, once the connection is broken, by powering off or getting out of range, I have to go through the pairing process again. Maybe my riding partners will eventually switch over.
