Poor quality.
The machining of the internal mechanism is so poor that the strike will not retract fully. The handle cannot be adjusted to fit a 1-1/8" door ( standard wood storm door thickness) because the handles are not drilled deeply enough. This is not a new design, there were 2 on the house I grew up in 60 years ago. This manufacturer produces a latch set with a beautiful finish and terrible machining of the actual latch mechanism.

Solid items yet flawed
The set has heft and knobs are strong. Yet, once installed the latch doesn't catch firmly and the handle can easily spin all the way around. Maybe I got a dud, but I'm doing to try a different brand.Update 6 months later: Busted

These doorknobs are....built cheaply
Ok, that's my opinion. I can't understand why the manufacturer would make a doorknob with nice exterior finishes and materials, and then use plastic parts inside. They don't hold up to the many uses our doors experience each day. Wouldn't buy again.

Good quality, but does not operate smoothly
The actual casting and construction are very nice, but the latch mechanism is not smooth, despite efforts to make it operate more freely, the latch frequently sticks in the open position (latch retracted into door), with the handle stuck where you turned it, you have to use your hand to move the handle back into neutral position (it should move there automatically under spring tension, but the spring is either too weak, or the mechanism not built to tolerances that allow it to move freely). Useable, but not ideal.

Fits my thicker screen door
This latch set fits a thicker door than the typical hardware/big box latch. Installed easily and works well. These type latches aren't typically very heavy duty in general, hence the 4 out of 5 star rating. You will be pleased though if you have a thicker door you're trying to revamp. Measure your door before buying any of this type latch!

The inner aluminum sleeve broke after 2 years of use
If you look at picture, the middle two flanges on inner aluminum are supposed to be attached to left side piece but broke after two years of use. So when you turn the knob, it doesn't pull the door striker in on right side of this picture and storm door won't open! The two aluminum pieces are narrow and a weak spot in the design of this mechanism. Just the opening and closing of door causes metal fatigue over time. The only reason I'm giving this three stars is $30 dollar door knob with this mechanism is still much cheaper than a whole storm door replacement.

Seems like a good choice!
Previous product lasted 18 years, but the spring loaded bolt retraction mechanism finally failed and needed a replacement. This product seems equal to or better than quality of my original screen door latch, but was actually a bit less expensive than the original. I went for the higher priced option on Amazon, hoping for a decent replacement for an item that worked well for a long time. After a couple of months in service, I'm happy with the quality and feel of the visible components and hope the internal mechanism holds up as well as, too.

Great quality!
The price for this is about the same amount for a flimsy one. It's high quality for what it is and the finish on it was perfect. The advantage of this particular type is that you can use it on in-swing doors by simply switching which side the knob/lever goes on.
