It arrived well packaged with the blade out of the sheath and wrapped separately in oil paper. The blade was very sharp right out of the box with no nicks or chips. The sheath is a heavy leather that looks like it will wear well. A sharpening stone was provided in the pouch. There is also a loop sewn into the sheath to hold a ferro rod although one is not included. Its a well balanced and solidly constructed knife that should hold up well under regular use. The handle is a bit thin for my taste but the finger grooves do offer a firm grip.
