Real effect even if it is a combination of real neuropriming and the placebo effect
I’ve had the Halo Sport for a couple of days now. I just wanted to give my initial impressions on it.I bought this mainly to increase the efficiency of my piano practice. Ive reached that age where new things take a long time for me to learn. Setup was a breeze and it has always maintained good contact with my scalp. Now to the main part. I’ve noticed that my piano playing focus has improved. I feel I am in the zone. I finished a piece which I was struggling with and also made great progress on another piece. Now all this could very well be what is known as a placebo affect. I’ve been a statistician in the medical area for a very long time and I know all about the powerful effect of the placebo. It is even more effective when you go through a ritual. Wetting the primers, putting on the headset, the tingling sensation you get in your scalp from the electrons sent by the primers, firing the app which then gives you a nice fiery circle like as if your brain was on fire, the 20 minutes countdown and the promise that the effect will last for exactly 1 hour and a timer for that. This is a powerful ritual. But make no mistake about it, even a placebo effect is real. So whether or not it is neurological priming or the placebo effect or more likely a combination of both, I have felt the effect and it has vastly improved my practice and so will continue using it.RegardsMarioNotes:1. Some of the reviews mention statistical significance or its absence in the studies conducted by the company. But I think the reviewers seem to confuse statistical significance with clinical importance. As a statistician I have seen this sort of confusion among researchers and other people with no statistical background. Let me attempt to explain the difference.A net effect ( total effect minus the placebo effect) may be real (different from zero) and clinically important but may not be proven to be statistically significant only because you did not have enough of persons in your study (lack of sample power). On the other hand a net effect may be real (different from zero) but clinically unimportant, but be statistically significant because you had too many people in your study. Thus statistically siginificance is only part of the picture to deem a net effect as being meaningful, the others are clinical importance and having enough of sample power.Think of reaching statistical significance as as providing enough evidence and people are the evidence. You may not be able to provide enough of evidence either because there is genuinely no net effect or because you don’t have enough people. Also the smaller the real net effect the larger the number of people you require in your study to provide enough evidence for it.2. Many medical products out in the market work because they have a big placebo effect. This is especially the case in mental health products like for example anti-depressants.3. The results of studies are based on average net effect. That is the average effect of the treatment group minus the average effect of the placebo group. The benefits varies a great deal especially for such a product which depends on so many individual-level factors . Some people receive a lot of benefit and some people receive very little. Thus by its very nature there will be mixed reviews here with some people complaining that it does not work and some people raving about how good it is. You can only determine which category you fall in by trying the product. I think this is the reason the company has a 30 day return policy.

Great Concept - Needs Work. Stopped working after 4 uses.
Really wanted to like this. I had read a lot about this and seen interview and news reports about it. My husband was very intrigued as was I. We bought it and he had been using it for learning to play guitar and I was for my workouts.Fantastic concept but needs a lot or work. Hubby used it prior to his guitar lessons and felt that they did go smoother and slightly less effort than normal. He only had used it 4 times before it started not being able to connect. He has very short hair and tried all the recommended methods of trying to get it to connect without shaving his head. I could not get it to connect once with me and I have thin hair but more than hubby. After 5 days in a row of it not connecting, AFTER ONLY 4 USES, it was time to send it back. Very disappointed for something so expensive.Great concept, would have loved for it to work and "unlock the potential".

Great product POOR support
I got it when the thing was $700+ seen a lot of improvement in my training. As I'm not scientist I can't confirm what it does but what I feel is that Everytime I wear it, it gives me an edge in training and that ofc translate to performance in the field. But it started giving me issues with connection and I contacted. The primers we're recharged worked for a while (1-2 months)and then again failed everytime I have to pay 9 for the solution and 49 to get it shipped to me. So if you are not in USA you gonna get ripped. And now the whole head set is giving trouble. Considering that they are made for workout and that I use them only during that 20 minutes of warm up I assumed the device would hold on for a while.

BEWARE IF YOU HAVE THICK HAIR
I bought this probably a little over a year a go. I have always had trouble getting a decent connection. To be fair I do have thick hair but I followed all the tips on the website (soaked the primers, wiggled through hair, pulled down tight on head) and would still have difficulties going the full 20 minutes without losing connection which is just incredibly frustrating. Eventually I had to press so hard on it so many times to get a connection that one of the primer holders cracked and music would only come out of one earphone.I recently bought the Halo 2 as a replacement and found that this version was even worse at getting a decent connection then the first version. The primer is now one piece instead of three but it seems to be softer and the headphones would not hold down on my head. I contacted the Company and they said it was issue with the adjusters not being tight enough. They are sending me a new headset. Will update if it works any better but I have my doubts.

Improved focus
I'm a competitive Masters swimmer who has been working to improve strength and swimming form while avoiding injuries. Halo Sport has helped to improve my focus and feel for both my strength training and my speed work in the pool. Can be a little on or off as I really feel turbocharged about half the time I use the headset, while the effects are less noticeable other times.

Worth every penny. Not just for sport.
Amazing technology! Absolutely effective. I have been using 2-3 times per week for the last 5 months. It has really benefited me in the gym, and while running. What is most surprising is that it has even given me a great deal of focus and endurance for work. I write for a living and I have never been more productive, on a hourly basis and daily basis. It has directly improved my typing speed and accuracy. The company advertises it for sport, but I think there is a great deal of potential beyond that, even as far as increasing cognition and maintaining overall mental health. I plan to use it forever. For those of you who have difficulty getting a good contact, I soak the contact points for 5 minutes, and I splash some water on my head. Works every time.
