I'm a traveling DJ and filmmaker, carrying extension cords, audio cables and extra surge protectors wherever I go. My goal is to make equipment set up and break down as efficient as possible so I can maximize my client's experience, which requires easily accessible chords and cables. Because it's light weight, I can carry multiple rolled cords at a time and have them all color coordinated. I highly recommend the FreeReel to any event planners, DJs, filmmakers, concert hosts or media production buffs who want the best product on the market to stay organized and save money. If you want to extend the life of your cables and cords, FreeReel is the best option I can recommend.

If I were rating only the reel, I would give it 4 stars. Although a bit unwieldy, it does do the job. However, since I ordered the reel, an extra spoil and wall mounts, I have to rate the whole system. First, in order to use the extra spool, you have to unscrew the handle from one and connect to the other. Not a big deal, but a quick release of some sort would be better. But, the biggest disappointment is the wall mounts. If you configure your cord as is demonstrated with one end wound on the outside of the reel in order to plug the cord in without unreeling the whole thing, you CANNOT use the wall mount. The mount connects under the tabs where the cord is wrapped. Even with the cord out of the way, it is very difficult to get reel mounted properly. I would not have purchased the mounts had I known this. If you need 2 reels, I would suggest buying 2 complete freereels so you don’t have to switch handles, and forget about the wall hanger.

I have been using the reels for a while now. I like how it keeps my cords neat, and it's much easier to use than the orange plastic reels I was using before I received my maintenance reel. It even works if you are left handed (I'm left handed)I really appreciated it when my EAA chapter put on a Drone / R/C aircraft expo. I was able to run both cables in the amount of time that it took others to run one. Cleanly retrieving my cords with the reels were fast and enjoyable as I watched others wind their cables the 'old school' way.As you can see by the picture, I gave up on the cable in the back since it was a long day and I was more than ready to head home. I need to get 4 more.I did try the reel with a 50 foot 1/2" rubber air hose and it didn't work too well. Smaller hose should work fine.
